    Evening All,

I'm in a sticky dilemma. I know how to build a PC but since I've been on a laptop for the last 4 - 5 years I've kinda got a little behind in the spec side of PC's

    I have a Advent T2080 Laptop

    I have a budget of £300 - £350 for a desktop. I don't need a monitor just a complete tower.

    So far I've been quoted

    core 2 quad 6600
    4 gig ram
    500 gig HDD
    Vista
    £352.50
    From friend

I have been searching UKHotDeals but nothing good is on at the moment

    Any suggestions?

Looks like a pretty good config for you.
if you like to play modern games then you should think about graphics cards.

    WHta he said ^^

Depending what you use this for, you might want to invest in a good 256 or 512mb video card, which will increase that quote quite a bit.

Just get a Dell if you are not too fussy, they do work ok. Support wise is fine too.

As the others have said, thats a pretty good deal for what you have there, but if you intend to play games or run multimedia programs that need good graphics capabilities (such as video editing programs, even image editing programs to an extent) then buy a half decent graphics card, the on board ones are usually pretty poor. You can get a pretty decent one for about £60-80 nowadays.

So what ARE you going to be doing with this machine? Also, when you say 'from friend' is he just getting you a good deal or is it a used PC?

For this purpose, you are wasting much money on RAM. 512 RAM is enough for you, I think.

I wouldn't go under 1GB of RAM if you are planning on running Vista.
