Is this a good thing or bad thing? Are we all going to be on a whole new learning curve mastering the systems?

Pretty soon google will be an even bigger monopoly and then the anti trust cases will start. Any time there are fewer options for consumers or advertisers, it's a bad thing imho.

This is definitely bad news... Atleast when some of us were struggling with Adwords, we had an option to move to Yahoo. Now its just google and its algorithms and slaps... :)

I think its a good idea. Then we no longer need to operate in the horrible yahoo GUI environment, and can still take advantage of yahoo traffic.

If would just be nice if we can separate bidding or if we can place yahoo in site targeting for better control

i don't think it really matters if there are some ads next to yahoo search results,
i ignore them most of the time in the cases I'm at a pc without a ad blocker

For Google and Yahoo! it’s a good thing, however for publishers and advertisers it just means harder days ahead as Google’s monopoly grows ever stronger.

    How is this harder?

I think its easier since we don't have to manipulate multiple bidding platforms and learn 2 completely different systems. Especially since Yahoos interface is horrible.

Who cares if google owns yahoo and msn as well, it would only make our lives as advertisers easier.

Because if Google owns the vast majority of the online advertisement market, then it can do as it pleases. Tomorrow they can decide to price each click at a minimum of US$ 3-4 and cut publisher’s share even further, what choice would you have then?

Monopoly in any industry is never a good thing for consumers and it often stifles innovations.

my clicks are about 50% cheaper at yahoo now than google right now. And from this merger my margins will get smaller on yahoo not a good thing at all.

I hate monopolies and this deal is as close as it gets to monopoly.

I don't think they have these intentions at all...

In fact if they did something like that, it would be the worst mistake they could ever make. Marketers would just stop spending and probably boycott, which means less income for google.

I think they are smarter than this to just jack up prices

Not really, when people are running businesses for their livelihood, they can be made to shell out more money for the same thing as long as they know they don’t really have an alternative.

It takes out one competitor of Yahoo, there is only MSN left, Google and Yahoo combined is a monopoly of the internet advertising industry. I don't think monopoly is good in the Internet world. Just hoping MSN think of something to increase their share of the pie. Or hopefully some creative start ups manage some disruptive technologies to overthrow the leaders.

I think it’s good for Google, just growing their business and I respect that…. I think it is a bad view of Yahoo as it appears they’ve lost all independence. There’s a million things MSN could do to increase the usage of their search engine services and advertising business, I think they should start implementing these ideas… they should at-least have a creative thinker on board, and if they don’t have any ideas its pretty sad because they have the financial means to back it. Innovation doesn’t cost anything and all it takes is originality.

Edit: Oh’ our opinions on the actual merging? I think it isn’t a great thing for the customers.
