Hello DP members, I just wanted to share something i kind of stumbled on by accident. I recently added my business to google maps, just thought it would be cool, not really expecting any results due to the fact i do not operate a physical shop, but an online business. Anyways, i have received quite a few hits on my website, and a couple converted to sells. Im not sure if this technique has been used much, or how popular it is...but it works great, and i just wanted to share.
correct i was amazed actually, i only did it because i thought it would be interesting to see my online business show up on Google maps. But when they click the business it directs them to the site. I have had about 10 or 15 visits in the last two weeks, 2 of which have converted into service sells
Are you SURE that traffic / conversion isnt related to some thing else im having doubt that google maps sent that traffic if it did then just wait and watch every website is going to have a physical location on google maps now. Great..
The traffic definitely came from Google maps, i use software to track my page visits, and it records the url that sent the visitor. Not to mention they were both local clients within 20 mi of my residence
which software did you use I am looking for something similar? how do you add your business on google maps ?
I use statcounter.com, which is a website that monitors your traffic, you simply create a project and insert the code on your website. To add your business to google maps you must go here and click "put your business on google maps"
While accessing few sites that have google map plugin, I experienced it slow down the loading speed of site...I would like to use it in our few sites but this stop me.
It won't really work unless you have a business that could also exist offline. I.e. the graphic design service, or a plumber, hardware store, dentist, etc. Plus, not all webmasters would want their physical address and information public like that.
