Hi, everyone! I'm about to launch my own dating website and would like to hear your opinions about how to encourage new users to register on site, because obviously there will be just one member at start - and thats me. As I don't consider spamming everywere and that kind of stuff I'm a bit worried about getting first users on site. So any tactics and advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
You could try holding a contest that rewards the most active member [dunno how you'd measure this] as well as a few other randomly selected members. You could even be cheap and make the rewards "premium memberships" to the site with bonus features. This eliminates all cost. Good luck
There are the cheap ways of getting users to register like contensts etc but in the long run they wont make much of an effect if your website isnt already busy. The best way is to make sure you have great content, and your website has a good feel and design to it - the only reason some one would register is if the site has value thats probably why you registerd here. Do the same for the person your trying to get to register. Create value
The most important thing is to get the bandwagon rolling. It doesn't matter if it's the best damn dating website in the world if there isn't anyone to date. Initial buzz = lasting effects.
I guess that in dating sites the value is the members and lots of them. One thing that I might try out is Google Adwords to let people to know about my website. But still.. its hard to imagine how to get them inside as a members. It would be pretty stupid to make first accounts fake and then watch how real members try to get in touch with fake ones.
Develop facebook apps, it will help you if you've good network there, I see many dating websites are doing that.
