    Hi,
I called my bank today and told them I wanted to apply for a credit card. I am still a student and all my money comes from affiliate marketing. They said that since I was self employed I would have to submit Income Tax Returns. I would like to know whether there is any other way around this?. Oh and I live in India

If your parents (mom or dad) or your elder brother or sister having credit card then you can apply for addon credit card and verify yourself through it.

The easiest way is for you to apply for a SECURED CREDIT CARD. This means that you need to deposit a certain amount and you can only charge your card around the amount that you used as "deposit."

Another way is to ask your bank if they have STUDENT CREDIT CARDS. While the credit limit may be low, at least the card's legit and you can use it just like a regular CC.

Or you can also ask for a supplementary card from your parents who have credit cards.

I'm not too sure about banks in India but here's the website of a recent client of mine. I wrote web content for him - he's engaged in the credit card industry. One of the options found in his website is a student credit card

Good luck on your application :)
