If you are coming to this forum or any forum to learn SEO you are going to get a lot of bad advice from inexperienced people. Many people give advice just to get links from a signature and they are only repeating what someone else said.

The real SEO talents are not going to give up for free what they charge big bucks for so let’s get real here.

So if you really want to learn SEO where are some good resources.

SEObook.com – one of the best around with very useful free tools. I recommend their SEO for Firefox.

Search Engine Guide – This one needs to be in everyone’s bookmark. They have a group of very good writers. You should subscribe to this one and you will be glad that you did.

SEOmoz – Simply one of the best.

Bruce Clay – This guy has been around forever and he charges enormous fees, but his blog is very useful.

While, I am certainly not a guru you can find lots of very useful on our website and that website does rank seven times on Google’s first page for SEO related searches. The website is located here http://www.tucsonseosolutions.com

The best SEO book I have ever read was "UnFair Advantage Book on Winning the Search Engine Wars" at searchenginehelp.com . Currently it is $97 and you will be getting the latest version every month free of charge for 12 months.

Although I do agree with Geeurbie, I do believe you can get a good headstart with with the free information. I recommend that anyone interested in SEO get some free info first to get them started, buying an advanced book on SEO may be a little too overwhelming for a newbie.

I find what you can read in a book or e-book has already been shared on blogs and forums. So yeah, I agree 100%. I bought the joel comm book, has some good stuff in it but the similar idea is still out there for free.

Its not a secret. Either your targetting keywords that arent competitive or your getting the initial ranking and will be buried shortly if the keywords are competitive.

Theres no secret way to do it.

Yea... I got my start in this business by reading blogs, the key is to learn who knows what they are talking about that why I recommend learning from the industry leaders. They are actual stakeholders in the industry. While you may find good advice here you should verify this with 3 authority sites before you go implement it on your website.

my advice: ignore 95% of the drivel that is spouted in these forums unless you check, double check and triple check your facts before believing it.

Dont get me wrong, there are plenty of good bits of advice on these forums, but there are also 100,000 other people that havent got a clue what they are talking about.

I have blogged about this very subject and what I feel are the most important aspects of SEO here: http://www.costawebsites.com/2008/06/basic-seo.html (shameless self promotion I know, but I AM A FULL TIME SEO PROFESSIONAL - and have been for 3 years now.....)

Seomoz is one of the best. There are a few blogs of the experts that I frequent but I would rather spend my time implimenting strategies than reading about them. I just research often to keep an eye on changes.
