Why should I? I think the point was made just fine. "Be careful about taking free advice. Use your brain. Figure out who you can/ should listen to and who you can't/ shouldn't listen to."

    :)

Why on earth would you make that thread on a pets forum??

No thats correct. Related links are worth much more than unrelated. I can get 1 link from a related site that can help more than 100 links from unrelated. Its proven it helps.

Those guys dont give a crap about SEO. They are affiliate marketers. Big difference.

Well ya those wont help you. They are unrelated links with duplicate content. Biggest waste of money if your doing SEO. Only helpfull if your only goal is to raise PR.

Then again, maybe you are right about everything and I am not. Or maybe I am right about half and you the other half. Some poor soul will assume that one of us is the guru and go with what we say. Hopefully they pick you! lol

Well, you don' expect some SEO guru to reply in your threads, providing help for free don't you?
The good SEO strategies will be kept privately to avoid competition, etc. ;)

Great read. Indeed, most of the seo gurus are novice and they think they know everything about google, pagerank, keywords etc. Search them, and nothing comes up. The only true advice I ever got on dp is from my own head!

I get a kick out of some of the "pros" here. I remember once that there was a guy offering to perfect the seo of your site for a healthy free. He hooked people here by giving a free initial review of their site. But when you went to the pro's site to read up on him, it was a piece of crap that was a few months old with only a couple of pages indexed. lol A lot of the "pros" here are going to their high school classes at day in Delhi and taking on seo clients at night on DP.

Challenge to all--- Take anything that is accepted by virtually every seo person here and challenge it. Ask yourself, 'Why does everyone believe this?" You may be surprised to find out that in many cases the accepted version of something is 100% wrong. There is a lot of sheep following other sheep here.

Well, here is what I think on this.

I've been working with SEO since 1999. I'm more than happy to help, as long as I get real questions. Not only questions like: Hi guys please help me with my site.... bla bla bla bla..... do you really think other people or in this case I'm going to help??? nah. Thats called free lunch.... I can make money helping my clients, while charging them 250-500 USD per hour or I can try explaining thing for free.... We all know, there is no such thing as free lunch.

I can respect that. I really can. If I had a golden ticket, I wouldn't be too quick to give it to you either. I may flash it at you every now and then, but I sure as hell wouldn't be giving it away.

Do you really charge $250-$500 per hour? Really?? Good Lord! My profession allows me to charge a nice sum, but nowhere near that. Why in the heck would someone pay you that much???

You come on DP because you are to cheap to pay a professional (which I am) and then you bitch because the free advice didn't work... Wow...

There is a lot of information on any forum that is questionable, at best, but it's free. We all have different motivations for responding. I do it because I like to help, but SEO is may bread and butter, so I limit the scope of my answers, Others comment just to acquire links, and that's not a bad thing, some are here just to promote themselves, and if done right that's not a bad thing either.

As for the Guru part... Well, I have not seen where anyone claimed to be a guru... I'm very good at Geo-targeted SEO, but I don't work on e-commerce or with national players. So by no means am I a Guru.

I believe that you show a lack of character when you diss people who have given freely to you. Why don't you take some individual responsibility here. You should never blindly take advice here or anywhere before you use due diligence and make certain that it is valid.

People like you, that blame others, for your own failures never stop amazing me. You people never slow down long enough to see how foolish your actions are.

My search engine optimization blog is new, though on the back of my website it gets indexed in minutes when I post to it. Well I think your post is very good and perhaps I gave you a little injustice earlier (mmhh) so I have written a quick too liner to add to your links. First time I have done this from here!

    Thank you sir.

I understand your initial reaction. A lot of people post crap here to try to sell them something (usually just a scam/ rip off). I will assure you that I'm not. :p

I'll check your blog out. Thanks for the link love.

I am afraid I have to disagree. 90% is not remotely accurate. I also find digg to be a great way to get quality backlinks.
