I never went from saying one thing to another grim all i said was if your going to include isolation you better make sure your routine is 80% compounds or your wasting your time.

I agree that compound movements are highly effective but...Not every single exercise routine has to contain compound movements for a workout session to be effective. You can't apply that to everyone. You have to take in account that everyone's goals are different from one another and involving compound movements isn't applicable to everyone's routine.

Im still going to go with the basis that every routine must be based on compounds no matter the goal and with weight lifting there can only be 3 goals.

Strength, hypertrophy or rate of force development(power).

The only benefits i can see too isolatione exercises is possible rehab of a certain muscle.

Like i say though nothing to stop you throwing them in at the end of a session but i see far too many sessions that consist of curls, curls and more curls. About every type of curls possible:D

My arm day is like this, it's a light day where I hit my bi's from every angle possible.

I personally enjoy it, my arms are much, much stronger from it.

But are they functionally stronger from it or are you just lifting higher weight with your curls?

Instead of curling to the death, wouldnt weighted chin/pull-ups, bent-over barbell rows be a better idea?

I hope you include bent-over rows anyway if your benching to offset any inbalance issues.

Same, I no longer believe in hitting my muscle until it's dead. I do full body so I hit every muscle 3 times a week, my routine comprises of this:

    Deadlifts or Squats
    Bench or Dips
    Pull ups or Chins
    Military or Shoulder Press
    Bent over row

With some isolations at the end, although as I started this routine fairly recently, I feel very sick towards the end because my body has yet to adapt, so the DOMs last for a fair few days aswell.

As I preform the largest moves, this induces natural testosterone production, which maximises hypertrophy. My goal at the moment is to put on another stone of muscle, then cut for next summer. I did splits for about a year but I didn't think I was pushing myself, most days I would walk out feeling fine, so it's nice to switch things up and shock the body. Each to their own though, if it works for you then great, but everyone's different.

There's definitely too many at my gym going for 'club muscles', they have no idea that back muscles are essential for stabilising bicep curls, yet all they do is swing DBs back and forth, breaking their back, then put far too much weight on when benching, giving their spotter more of a workout than they're getting. Oh well.

I look for more than how much I'm lifting, I look at overall strength and shape. I am not a power lifter, I am more in between.

That being said Yes I am 'functionally stronger' because of it.
I do these on my back day and much more. The curls help give me size/definition in my arm. Sure I could do workouts based off of power lifting and look like a power lifter, that however is not what I am doing, not what I'm trying to accomplish. I could for instance be stronger in my flat bench and flat bench alone if I didn't do so many other pressing movements, I however am stronger in many areas where even power lifters don't have much power at all.

I actually can row more and do more weighted pull ups because of my bicep day I work in.
I do multiple forms of bent over rows, including Standard Rows, Yates Rows, Dumb Bell Rows, Incline Dumb Bell rows, machine rows both standard and reverse grip, reverse free weight row and many more ;)

    Hey Guys,

Does anyone know the best and cheapest place to buy supplements online?

I have been getting 3 tubs of 908g Promax extreme for $173.98 but I was wondering if I could get it cheaper?

No I haven't, I have heard that maximuscle isn't that good

What is the best supplement? I want something that will help with weight gain, and also muscle gain with good results, I have had results with maximuscle but I think its a bit expensive.

    What do you think?

Try a standard 'not over prices or hyped' whey protein after your workout, eat something such as cottage cheese before you go to sleep.

Creatine or a mix with creatine such as Dymatize Expand.

    Grim,

What do you think about optimum nutrition 100% whey protein?

Seen amaxing reviews of it and no negative reviews, and it is relatively cheap, you can get 10lb of ON for a cheaper price than 2lb of maximuscle! Thats crazy

It's going to be more your normal diet and training than the protein, protein helps don't get me wrong, it however is a small part of it.
