Are there really some secret SEO tricks?

I'm new to SEO but I read a lot. Lots of people talk about SEO as if there are some secret tricks.

The most "secret" SEO trick I've heard of is to buy a domain name for more than 1 year at the time, because Google may think the associated website has more chances to be serious that way. And even then, this is not a really secret trick, I heard about it more than once.

Other than that, what?

- quality incoming links, with selected anchor text
- good titles
- keywords in domain name + in URL
- good website structure
- quality content

What else? stuffing keywords in ALT image attributes? Come on!


Do secret SEO tricks really exists? Or it is just something "SEO experts" say to make money?

 

What the hell, man, why did you just expose all our secrets like that?!? j/k - it's no secret, those are all good SEO techniques.

 

So, in your opinion, there are no other, more "secret" techniques than those?

Still, I didn't find a lot of tricks or techniques that were not in my first list (except H1/H2/H3 which I forgot and that are far from being "secret").

SEO looks like a complex and hard to grasp science, but in the end it's really easy to summarize from what I understand:

- quality incoming links, with selected anchor text
- good titles
- keywords in H1, H2, H3, etc.
- keywords in domain name + in URL
- good website structure (Avoid sample.com/www.sample.com for example)
- quality content

Do I forget something?

In fact, it seems to me the real hard SEO part is finding the more quality incoming links possible, without search engines see this as a deliberate attempt to manipulate one's PageRank or SERP position.

 

er, my cousin knows SEO trick .
he did SEO for his SMS site : apnaysms.net
he said he only did SEO for 4 categories and main page.
and he is telling the truth , when you searched for(before seo) "cool sms" or "decent sms" his site wasnt on first 3 pages, now if you will search(after SEO), his site comes on FIRST PAGE (for cool sms) and 11th result (2nd page's 1st result) for decent sms
he says there is a trick ( he calls it something like black hat method) I dunno what does it mean, but he doesnt tell me how does he do all this SEO stuff .. It takes him about or 2 hours to do SEO for 1 category ( wordpress )

 

I must say I don't understand why this site ranks for "cool sms", there is not even the phrase "cool sms" on the page. And there are not so many incoming links. And it doesn't seem to use cloaking (I tried with googlebot user agent).

Anyway, if such "secret tricks" really exist, I'd like to know them! I would even pay.

 

Only thing I'd add is keywords in your page description.

The above list is about 85% of the recipe and is sufficient for most original sites.

 

Yes, description.. But some people say it's not that important. Like the meta "keywords" element. Anyway, I guess you are right and it should be optmized, why not!


I think I'll start to sell a 25$ ebook that would only be this short list, on one simple page! And I'll name this ebook "SECRET SEO TRICKS. MAKE 3000$/DAY!!!"

Its the same like the "super secret marketing knowledge" you could summarize that on one page but often it's hard to do what stands on your page (like get quality backlinks).

You did forget that the article should come in website code before anything else. That's sometimes hard to archive.

These are the main techniques I guess. Personally, I think that a quality content is the most important "SEO secret"...

 

Thats the secret right?
Anyways as long as you get content and quality links to your site, you don't need to worry much about SEO secrets. Unless of course, well you plan to go above and beyond

Yes backlinks are pretty important but the content is always my main priority (as I tend to say Content is king). It is one thing to have million backlinks pointing to your website but when there's no interesting content, people will leave your website. Once you update the site regularly with quality content, people will keep coming to check back for updates, they will stay longer on your site and they will link to you naturally if they like your content.

 

I dont think there is anything like "secret seo tricks". If there would have been such tricks all must have tried to get it and would have come on google's 1st page (Google wud than increase no of links on 1 page) . So its just best not to think for any secrets and go for the "real techniques"

 

Alt-tags with description and keyword for pics. Google image is sending more and more traffic.
