Hey everyone. I've been around Digital Point for awhile, and I'm taking on one of my biggest challenges yet: earning $15,000. I'm only 17 years old, but my plan to make the $15,000 is to create 10 different Adsense content sites, and get them each earning at least $5/day. Then, I'll have sites worth $50/day, and I already have a buyer for when I get to that point. I guess what I'm looking for in this thread is a little motivation. I'm outsourcing some of the article work, but I'm doing some on my own, too, and it is going to be taking a lot of my time and effort. Does anyone have any real-life examples of Adsense sites that they've got making a few dollars every day? If you don't care to share the URL, perhaps sharing the niche with an estimated time frame on how long it takes to get a site up to $5/day would be possible. My niches are what I like to refer to as 'everlasting'. I'm not blogging about the 2008 NBA Playoffs. What I'm going for is content that will be useful 1 year, 5 years, and even 10 years from now. This will insure the sale of my sites. Some of my niches so far are: Learning Spanish Weddings Weightlifting High School Survival Fantasy Baseball Strategies I'm going to be writing 3 of those, and I think to start I'll work on getting just those 5 sites up to $25/day total. It will keep me going! Perhaps I'll start a blog tracking my case studies and my status, because other Internet-niched bloggers might mention me and give me a few worthwhile website backlinks. All in all, I just wanted to share my goal with you guys, and hopefully get some motivation to keep me going. So far I've written 8 articles for my Learning Spanish site. I really think they are high quality too - some come in at 600 words. These are totally original and written by me, and I have faith that with the proper amount of linkbuilding, these sites could rank decent in Google. My last strategy is to buy sites making like $1-$2/day. I figure if I could get one of those for maybe $200, I would already have a solid base that I can build off. I would write a few more articles, build a few more backlinks, and work that $1/day to $5/day with sites made by other people. However, I posted a thread on DP last night and haven't really seen much quality results since then. I know...this was a long post, but thanks for reading and please, give me your opinion on my strategy, idea, and goal.
Best of luck! Make sure you blog about stuff you have an interest in, because this project will quickly become a pain in the butt once the initial excitement wears off and it starts feeling like work.
Twan, Although not really, Adsense is dead. you should consider looking at adding afiliate products to these sites as well, even if they are just e-books from ClickBank. My testing has shown that my Adsense income does not drop, but I generally make 3-10X more from the e-book sales then the Adsense. If you can make $15 on an e-book sale, that is already 3X, and you only need to sell one a day. Obviously, sales are a factor of on target traffic. Get an auto responder like AWeber or GetResponse, and build niche lists. They may not have 10,000's of name on it, but let's face it, a targeted list of folks wanting to learn Spanish is very powerful to market to, as long as your offers are Spanish related and you also provide the list with great content along the way. 500 on a list and 10 lists gets you to 5000 people to sell to!
Best of luck with your goal.. it would be good to track your progress with a blog and then you could use ad-sense there to also generate further revenue?
If you stick at it long enough and keep learning SEO and applying it you will make that no problem just takes time as soon as Google start to trust your sites and you will start to see the money come in your best bet is starting blogs because Google loves blogs!
Honestly, I just feel more comfortable with guarantee revenue from clicks. I could have a $10 ClickBank day, and a $0 day the next. With Adsense, I get some stability. I do understand where you are coming from though. I was thinking about it, but there would be no resale value of the blog. The best I could do is link bait the 10 sites I'm promoting, and in turn better their Google rankings. I am pretty familiar with SEO. I've installed All-In-One SEO on all my Wordpress blogs and I absolutely love it. My plan though is to write about 20-30 Spanish articles for my first site, and then stop completely and just start building backlinks. Hopefully the content will still be looked upon by Google as valuable, even though I really don't plan any updates after that. Thank you. I know direction is important, because if you don't know your direction, you don't know where you are going.
You have mentioned that you are wary of the irregularity of affiliate programs, and rightly so, they do carry a greater risk than PPC. But of course greater the risk, greater the gain. Try to use a mix of both - that way you keep your "regular income" with Google and the like, but also are topped up with "bonus" affiliate revenues. All the best.
Sounds like a hefty goal. How can you have "50 AdSense accounts"? I thought they only let you have one? Good luck!
When looking over my domains, I realized I had Led Zeppelin Lyrics (backlinks for the win!) sitting around, so I think I'm going to go ahead and get all the Zeppelin Lyrics on the site, along with a couple backlinks. It's already like #18 on Google for Led Zeppelin Lyrics, and if I'm reading the keyword tools right, that query gets over 1,000 searches/day. I could easily make $5/day if I was getting just 200-300 of those uniques. In terms of affiliate, I could put a little 'Get this song as your ringtone' at the bottom of every post...we shall see!
Good luck on your quest. I have a similar goal to you. Hope you continue to update us on your progress...
