How to promote my website

    I have a content website that I plan on making Adsense revenue with and then possibly selling, and I'm wondering my complete marketing plan should be. Should I just submit all the pages to Digg to get them indexed and whatnot, or is there more to it than that?

    there is alot more to it, directory submission, article submission, fresh content, plus the way you set up your ads and page.

    Since you are planning to sell it, social networking sites would a great choice. But the number of backlinks is a factor when you sell a site; so you have to work on that as well.

    Backlinks are always a factor for resale value. Submit to article directories, web directories, and SEO. High search engine results is always appealing to potential buyers so try to optimize use good and related anchor text and get a PR before you put it on the market. That means you may have to wait months more than you wanted so that you can get a decent PR rank before you sell.

    SEO is the best way to optimize your site before promoting, in fact Search Engine Optimization, but you need to put a plan into action to attract traffic.

    Of course Superior is right suggesting SEO to get your site indexed efficiently.

    Google's AdWords, online and offline classified ads, and link exchange are just a few ways to promote your website ;)

    Right now I just want to make money with Adsense for a few months then I might sell it, I might not. So my goal right now is to get steady traffic.

    I've taken care of some things. So far I've just submitted all of my pages to Digg. Is this a complete list of things? 1. Post newsgroups, 2. Press releases, 3. Email to VIPs, 4. Article submission, 5. Reciprocal Links, 6. Forum Posting, 7. Directory submission, 8. Tell everyone with whom you communicate, 9. Post ads to free advertising website, 10. Blogging, or what else is there?

    Is getting traffic just a matter of doing these things, or is there a way in which it has been proven to gain steady traffic?

    I thought about Adbrite and getting cheap clicks, is this something that's recommended and to be added to the list above?
