    Hi,

I'm not a SEO expert but have hired one. We are now into this thing a little
over 3 months. The keywords (except for 1) are not extremely competitive.
When should I expect to land in the top 20 for MSN, Yahoo and Google
    search engines. Thanks in advance.

    Bryan

If the keywords are not extremely competitive - measured by allintitle:"keyword quoted" under 1000 or generic results returning under 1M, then 3-6 weeks is about what it takes me to get into the top 20 on G/Y/M.

If your SEO gurus are submitting to Directories, fire them. If they are asking you to do paid advertising: fire them. If they are building splogs for you: fire them.

In today's world, you need to be exploiting existing large blog networks that already have PR and authority, and also using the latest Web 2 sites to build more quality links, such as gather.com, hubpages, com squidoo.com etc.

They say they are doing onpage optimization (sitemap, meta tags, etc..)
and buying/obtaining quality backlinks. It just seems like I should me moving
up a little bit faster, at least with MSN and Yahoo.

    Thanks

I agree with most of what you said but not about pagerank. Pagerank means diddly squat when it comes to ranking a site. Its the quality of the site itself that contributes to its importance. My seo got a website that was pr zero(fresh) not only in the top 10 but in the top 5 for an extremely , extremely tough keyword and the client was so happy with this work that he allowed him to use on his portfolio. now the site is in the top 1 to 3 and it blows people away and the crazy thing is he didnt do the link building(which is his speciality) with pagerank in mind. That site now is pr3 and ranked way above other pr 5 and pr 6 sites.

If he says pr means nothing i believe him 100%.

So what do you do with those sites...create a page about the same topic as your website and add a link to your site on it too?

    Thanks.
