I have a question, and i actually don't know the answer to it, which is odd. Say a domain has 1 year left before it expires. What happens if you transfer that domain from lets say godaddy to namecheap. Will the transfer add another year ontop of that? Or make it just expire one year from the date of the transfer? I always thought it was the latter, but i'm actually not too sure. thanks.
A year will be added to the current expiration date. If you have six months remaining prior to transfer, after transferring the expiration date will be extended to eighteen months from now. Namecheap is a pretty good choice, they served me well and no spam like from Godaddy.
Namecheap is not cheap at all. $9.29 for a domain. you can register a new domain for only $8.18 by using coupon code at Godaddy.
June Coupon for Namecheap: ROSEMONTH $8.41 I would (and did) pay the extra .31 or whatever for the phenomenal spam-free service. I had one domain at G.D., they hassle me all the time, call me to ask if I want to renew, and send e-mail every day about various offers. NC? NOT ONE piece of unsolicited e-mail, they helped me though a difficult transfer and have not tried to sell me one thing.
As long as namecheap is under $10 i'm fine with it. I love them. Actually the domain i want to transfer is on godaddy and has a year left, but i only trust namecheap. makes me a bit nervous having it at godaddy. thanks
The transfer will add 12months,but if i was in ur place and domain worths more than 1k,i prefered to use Godaddy cause of security and 0.30 more or less is not a problem when u want to do better deals
