Is Twitter traffic something that could be reliable? Along with this, would people pay to have their web links posted on a Twitter account with tons of followers?
If someone had say 30,000 followers, then yea it be might be worth it ... but in general, twitter is rubbish traffic ... i added around 4000 people to my twitter account and it had like a 80% bounce rate
Well that same principle applies to MySpace friends as well, I wouldn't expect 4000 to be enough to get substantial gains.
If you don't have thousands of friend no, and if you add lots of friends like people do elsewhere you'll be blocked as a spammer.
I also think twitter traffic has high bounce rate, there is a twitter friend adder (from: http://www.livelybrowser.com/topsiteslist/ ), I use it to add more than 30,000 friends, and get more than 1000 traffic in one day, however, the bounce rate is at about 85%.
i suggest you use facebook ... it may take a little longer to add people ... but you can get great targeted traffic
I have 149 twitter followers, 400 updates. Twitter accounts for 8.35% of my traffic. It has 159.47% the average time spent on site, 102.84% the average pages per visit, and a bounce rate of 25.64%. But I only rarely tweet a link to my site; the majority come to my twitter profile page and follow the link to my site, which indicates qualified interest. I agree with the previous posters that twitter isn't "worth it" if your goal is to drive traffic. Twitter is just another way to socialize with people, so unless you intend on having a conversation there, you won't find much use from it. Other benefits are peripheral.
If you have untargeted people following you on Twitter, your bounce rate is going to be high. Only follow people that you would want to follow you. That way you have the same interest and people will click through to your site and not leave quickly.
I have had good return on my twitter traffic, it seems they follow me because they want to learn more or want to know what I am up to. but my analytics show good return on my twitter traffic.
No, my account wasn't blocked, however, I found I can't post new updates sometime. So I create another account, and restart everything.
How do you know your account is blocked? Have your received any email notification? After been blocked, can't you do anything?
Trying to get targeted traffic from twitter is like getting to the center of the earth for warmth. Not worth it.
