A good deal of illegal activity on the web comes from former soviet bloc countries, including Russia..

I'm all for freedom of information though, I don't think blocking Russian IP's would accomplish anything.

I found that a lot of hacking attempts are from China, and I do not think that the Chinese authorities cared the slightest. A threat of a ban would wake them up especially when "face" is extremely important to the Chinese.

I belive that we should be able to choose what parts got banned. But yes I believe many parts of those countries should be banned.

i don't think that out incompetence to fight with spam should deny an entire country to internet. I'm sure that there are a lot of spammers in us and european union.

let's kill all our neighbours because some people forgot to lock their doors when go away, or let the americans to be the only nation who use the internet because they can't read the url of an website if they click on a link in email.

America seems to be the only country responsible and stable enough to keep a lid on it.

I could imagine USA could attack China if they don't ban the internet... like they are progressing in Iran next.

We know what USA is like... bombing is only answer.

Looks like you can politicized anything and everything. Guess this thread needs to be moved to Politics and Religion :) . Hopefully we can start to the OP's subject and not wander too far off?

    My personal opinion:

There should be some things to get the Russian government to comply with and respect international law, but a ban would not be good.

I would however support a 100% ban of anything from China being able to reach the rest of the world online.

If you disagree, feel free to show me anything good that has ever come from China that we cannot do without.
