Have any of you checked the site explorer for backlinks? Seems like they've taken out a lot of useful information. Are there any other backlink checkers that are as comprehensive?
If you type link:yourdomain do you find that it shows you any backlinks at all? What if you want to check someone else's backlinks, like your competition?
sorry to say this but there is no such tool to check all of your competitors' back links. I ever asked the same question and the answers were not satisfying at all. Yahoo site explorer only shows about 1,000 backlinks, not different with iwebtool and other tools out there. Google webmaster tools can show all of your backlinks BUT only your sites, not your competitors' sites. There are 2-3 tools that can show up to 2,000 (or even 3,000) back links but these tools are not accurate, sometimes not even close. As for link:domain.com or site:domain.com in Google, it's a joke nowadays, most times Google doesn't want to show even just the first 100 backlinks of our competitors' site despite (for example) that site has around 10,000 backlinks.
Search engines should not show backlinks at all in my opinion. You should be able to check them only in Google Webmaster Tools.
I typed link:chessbase.com to test it and it's returned the following... Document not found. The page may no longer exist, or you may have typed the URL incorrectly. You can: - search for it - view our list of products and services - return to the Yahoo! UK & Ireland home page
Can someone from the UK please check yahoo.com and do a link: search please. It's not working for me and a colleague in the UK...
I am in Australia and get redirected to site explorer yahoo7 Anyway.. This is what I got Pages (49,248) | Inlinks (506) Hope that helps Cheers James
Thanks. I put a domain I'm interested in to the search bar at the link you sent and it only shows links within the domain - no backlinks. Dam!
