    Hi Jason,

I would never submit automatically, and for that
matter I would never submit a single article to
multiple directories - you can get "slapped" for
    duplicate content.

I don't submit to more than a couple of article directories, but I do get my articles posted on hundreds of websites. To date, I have yet to get "slapped" for duplicate content.

June of 2008 is still six days from completion, but Google has sent me 9336 visitors this month. It certainly does not appear that I am being "Google slapped" for having the same articles on hundreds of websites...

I even have better than 1000 keywords in the top20 results of Google. That does not appear to be a "Google slap" either.

Perhaps "duplicate content penalties" are not what we have been told that they are. After all, if Google's "duplicate content penalties" applied to reprint articles, I should be fully slapped down with nothing to show for traffic or search rankings.
