Hi Guys, I like to do a fair bit of research on things, and taking notes if i understand clickbank correctly you: 1) Signup to clickbank 2) Find products you want to promote 3) make Landing pages (pages you create to entice sales!) 4) register a domain that has the products name in it (i think) 5) promote various ways to get sales would that be about right? so do you need to register a domain per product you choose to promote? cheers guys Graham
For the domain name you could always get a generic one and create sub-domains for all the products you plan on marketing. A number of sub-domains are usually free with a decent hosting package.
Hi Joshua, im with dreamhost! would that be like: www.main-domain.com/sub-domain/index.php kinda thing? cheers mate Graham
Laserdude has it right. Does anybody really use subdomains anymore? It isn't that expensive to just purchase a new domain and attach it to your existing hosting account. Thoughts?
did some searchingt baout and i know now how to add the sub domains! thanks guys! im not sure what to do! add a subdomain (free advantage i guess) or register a new domain, i suppose once you finish promoting a product, you can delete the subdomain! what does the majority of people do? cheers guys Graham
A .com domain is about 7-8$ so it's a good investment, If you are low on cash just buy an .info domain it's 2-3$ You can also do it without buying anything, just sign up for a free web hosting account which gives you a subdomain and just redirect it, for example howtochopwood.googlepages.com redirects to www.howtochopwood.com/?=gayraham23s or gayraham23s.googlepages.com/affiliateproduct1 redirects to www.affilaitelink1.com gayraham23s.googlepages.com/affiliateproduct2 redirects to www.affilaitelink2.com gayraham23s.googlepages.com/affiliateproduct3 redirects to www.affilaitelink3.com
Typically I don't buy new domains just to redirect things, I usually just use a meta re-direct, such as http://www.yoursitegoeshere.com/productname.html = redirect to the product page, like what Ripped is doing but I prefer to keep everything on my own domains.
You may use a domain name + subdomains to hide affiliate links (very easy to do with your hoster dreamhost) Well - now - Graham go ahead!
Yeah the price isn't a huge issue but when I can save money I'm going to. Plus my hosting comes like 100 sub-domains so I might as well put 'em to use! Hide affiliate links with them and use them for separate sites; working well so far.
Regarding your point #4 (domain name): It is better NOT to stick with one product. Hence selecting a generic domain name is better. Example: Let's assume that you want to promote "Tim's dog training guide". Instead of using a domain like "tims-dog-training.com" it is better to use a domain like "dog-training-tips.com" In this way you can add more related affiliate products without depending on one product. Also remember that the owner of the product can always stop selling it or cancel selling through affiliates.
Generic Domain with sub domains should work for testing a niche ... once you see that it generates some revenues, you can buy a dedicated domain and move the landing pages there.
