What is the best script that you do for directory?
    That is my question.

I really want to know the answer of this question. That's because I want to study the directory site structure and start to design the template.

And how much that you dare to hire your designer for your directory template?
Hope you will help me. :D

The most I've paid in the past was $800 for a phpLD template. Thats how much I dared and I consider it worthy given the feedback and nice comments I've had.

phplynx and phpLD would be a useful place to start. phpLD as its templates will be used a lot, and phplynx as there are few templates available and I expect its going to become quite popular in the next few months.

    phpLD is very good :)

Im more interested in trying to create my own templates some time, not for release though, just to improve my own directories.

Perhaps taking a look at each script on the market, compare each feature, compare the prices including any potential hidden costs and then move one. Stay a mile away from duplicate templates (free ones) they won't do you any favours. Hire a good designer (there's lots on here.) and get a unique one for yourself.
