People who don't believe climate changer is a fact and a serious matter either hasn't read enough or lack the capacity to understand what they are reading.
From what I understand is what I read in the IPCC reports, which happen to be a joke. Whoever came up with this greenhouse gas stuff, really needs to go back to school and take a course on heat transfer.
If global warming is real, how come the earth hasn't gotten warmer since 1998? Global warming is just hyper-environmentalism. Since the conservatives stole militancy and war from the liberals, the liberals new agenda is this environmental fascism where we abandon all empirical science, and become obsessed with punishing ourselves over doomsday scenarios. We believe there is global warming, because we are told there is global warming. It's not unlike in our distant past, when we would explain earthquakes by saying it was an angry God. Mysticism and mythology. We need to take care of this planet, and manage our environmental damage, but the same people who are selling us Global Warming, were selling us Global Cooling 30 years ago, for anyone old enough to remember that.
Because "global warming" is an innacurate term to describe what is happening. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qh76DVhj0-Y
We should definitely cut down on the number of SUVs we are driving on Mars. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/02/070228-mars-warming.html
Let's all just put our heads in the sand, close our ears, and say "nanananananana" really loudly, to drown out that ole' evidence. That will stop the end of the earth as we know it from coming. I've asked this before, and to my knowledge, it was never answered. Let's start from a common sense perspective. Industrialization is a new phenomenon, about 150-200 years old, against eons of time without its fruits. Is it reasonable to conclude man hasn't introduced lasting changes to our environment as a result of industrialization?
I'd love to see this evidence. All I seen is correlated crap. "Green house gases are going up and temperature is going up, therefore greenhouse gases made the temperature go up". << RETARDED. The fact is the Earth changes temperature. Overall, our temperature should be going up because we're about 12000 years coming out of an ice age. The reason it's so easy to tell the global warming theory is full of crap is because evidence is nit picked. You can't just pick things that show your theory as correct and completely ignore other things. That just turns in into political bullSH**. This has to be about the best graph though. http://www.scotese.com/images/globaltemp.jpg Facts seem to be things I like, but most people don't like facts.
Actually over the past 150-200 years carbon dioxide in the environment has increased by 4% according to even the most exclamatory scientists this could account for about half a degree centigrade change. For all those who are not aware the dominant (~90%) greenhouse gas in the atmosphere is *gasp* water vapor. Get over it! When one does take his/her head out of the sand, NPT, one realizes that there are more dominant factors to climate change than driving a hummer. Not that I would, that's just reckless spending, "climate change" aside.
seorae, don't promote false global warming dogma. There is no PROOF that carbon dioxide causes warming. We shouldn't even entertain retarded notions that come out of the global warming religion. The funny thing is these so called "scientists" *cough* dogmatists *cough*, can predict that 50 years from now it will be exactly 1 degree warmer, but they can't tell me the temperature next week within a degree.
This thread has been totally overrun by intelligent thinking and reason. Could it be a trend? I certainly hope so.
So your reasoning is that because the temperature on mars is increasing and there are no fossil fuels being burned there that fossil fuels can't be causing, Or at least contributing to, The climate change on earth? Great logic. I'm going to use that logic to refute the claim that smoking causes cancer on the grounds that non-smokers get cancer.....
Climat change, for sure is happening. I'm no expert on this but I heard that the north solar poles or something like that are moving south? (Does anyone know at what speed/rate?). Egypt used to be green, with rivers and tree's and now that the scientists are seeing the pole moving south they are predicting Egypt and other countries by it will return to being green again with tree's and rivers. Can you confirm this StOx? It's quite interesting.
Egypt used to be grassy because it was located on a different part of the planet. tectonic movement is responsible for that. I think what you are talking about is the onset of an ice age caused by increased temperature. I sounds funny, How could increased temperature bring an ice age? In the Atlantic there is the gulf stream, A current of circulating water which warms near the equator, moves up towards the north pole, cools and moves back down towards the equator. The gulf stream is the only reason that Europe and north America aren't covered in 20 feet of snow. If the planet heats up to the point where significant defrosting happens in the arctic it will flood the Atlantic ocean with cold water stopping the gulf stream dead in it tracks, committing Europe and north America to centuries of snow and ice.
You're trying to deny the theory of manmade climate change by claiming such science promulgates correlation without a causative chain. This is wrong. First, let's acknowledge that the study of this phenomena isn't new, a "political football," unless Fourier, living two centuries ago, is Gore's expert: To try and paint it so is itself a political tool. In fact, the question has been vigorously looked at for quite a while, through the work of Tyndall, Arrhenius, Stewart-Calendar, Hogom and many others. The IPCC data that one poster dismissed as crap showed a few key things: CO2 is increasing; not only is CO2 increasing, but oxygen is decreasing - hence, it isn't mere CO2 production, but combustion, that is causing that increase; isotopes of carbon, c-12 v. c-13. Atmospheric c-13 is rising, and the ratio is higher than exists in fossil fuels. It is on the decrease generally, which suggests, at least to me, another piece of evidence that the rise in Co2 atmospherically is caused by fossil fuel combustion. Starting point. But I'll ask again, as a common sense starting point. From a standpoint of common sense, do posters dismissing theories of manmade climate change dismiss that something this vast, and this new, on the world stage - industrialization - has no lasting effect on the globe's environment?
Makes sense now StOx. Do you have any time frames of how long or when or what rate the stream is moving at?
I'm not sure thraxed. But if and when it happens it will happen over night and will be effecting us straight away. You could literally go on holiday for a week and when you get back your house is under snow. Without warm air from the atlantic we are screwed.
