    Dear members,

I was wondering how many of you know how to code websites? I was thinking about learning how to code and building my own aracade script but I have found a free one out on the web and can use that but do you think I would benefit from learning how to code?

I advise that you learn how to code, i am still learning however i know more than the basics now. I have been learning for the last 9 months and started by making a website, adding to the website and changing the design is how i have learned mainly.

I developed proxy sites for a while and i found this very useful in learning how to code, i advise learning through the act of doing.

Yes, but would you say I need to learn? How many people here are earning good money and outsource coding?

Loads of people here are earning good money, however through coding its tricky like any other skill you try and sell on the internet.

Depending primarily on where your located, if its India or another country which benefits from the dollar being the primary currency on the internet then its great.

However some like myself struggle to find a decent profit at times, considering i am from the UK the US dollar tends not to have a good exchange for the British pound.

You do not need to learn however its a nice skill to have.

Teaching yourself to code is much more useful than taking some night class. Start with HTML then work your way up to CSS, then finally a language like PHP. Even if you are already familiar with HTML, give yourself a refresher. I always liked w3schools.com when I was teaching myself html and php. good site.

I know HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL. I would highly suggest that your next step is to learn basic HTML if you don't know it already. I think that no matter who you are, if you are on this forum trying to make money from a website, you should have a working knowledge of at least the basics of how web sites work. It makes managing them so much easier, and you feel more confident if a problem arises, you can fix it.

Long story short, I say it is absolutely necessary to learn to code websites, but start small. HTML is a very simple language, getting into programming with PHP or ASP should come much later.

I know HTML, C++, VB, SQL, CSS. I need to get familiar with PHP or Perl.

These days, knowing a particular language doesn't matter. All you need to know is the basics and you can use the internet to figure out the rest.
