Lobo Links got a new design

I was browsing around a bit this morning and came across Lobo Links.

It looks like Mack (aka floppydrivez) is making a few changes over there to the design.

 

looks good indeed altough is not very different from the original design.
Nice facelift in the end

 

Thanks for posting Bruce. Its still a long way off to get everything squared away.

It is just huge if you been looking at it for the past 295 days I guess.

What is the directory owner doing?

 

Re-Installing and Re-configuring things properly so they operate in the manner they did before (hopefully better).

Will be blogged when submissions are open again, stay tuned.

 

I actually think it looks quite a bit different than it did before. The color scheme has remained the same but other than that it has changed quite a bit.

Of course maybe I am just sensitive as now the top 5 most popular sites listed there are no longer on the front page along with my listing. lol

I like the new look!

 

I am in no way entitled to do such. I like ZD and consider them an ally, so they will continue to get link love where it is deemed relevant. I often have mentioned them in many of my blog post along with other directories I admire. They will get added to my blogroll when I get the blog template sorted properly.

However, in regards to professional look. It wasn't done by a professional, no more than I consider myself which isn't much. I did do the best I could and I am pleased with it.

 

That's the problem Mikey, sometimes its all but impossible to totally get away from a well known design. I think that while your spot on that some inspiration has been taken from zorg it has been changed enough to separate them and there's no way they should link back as a result. I know I got enough flack about taking ideas from botw but like lobo went to lengths to make sure it was not identical, nor used any of its images etc. A bit like most cars look the same but aren't when you look closer.

 

I have to say that I agree with you on this Jamie... I would give you some rep but I am informed I need to spread some around first...

I am not a designer, but I know that when I saw Lobo the last thing on my mind was Zorg.

My thoughts were purely hey a new look for Lobo! I like it.

Ahhh.. I was just about to post the same since it was my first reaction. Good to see I was right.

Yes, the design seems to be fully inspired by Zorg.

 

I think in this forum, each of us are friends & blah blah blah, but when it comes to directories or whatever online business you have, there is no ally except business partners. Just like you, I admired some of the "major" directories of the web as I called them not because of the PR or other ranking/indicators.

Remember one thing...everybody smiles like hell in here, but nobody gives a shit about you or your directory as long as they cannot benefit from you in a way or another. Mostly when you compete them...so don't expect sugar words from here

Look a little closer at this thread...and you will see how cold the feedback will be. (I know it is not your fault)

Better use a poll on your directory and ask the visitors what they think about the new look.

Overall, yes, I like the new design. The old one was so basic and.. "tired" if I can say so.

 

Agreed, Ally could of been the wrong word to choose, but I definitely admire that directory along with many others.

 

hyper you need to understand a lot of people here (atleast me) have no problem whatsoever with someone else's directory.

The op asked a feedback, I gave the same, which I haven't coz I maybe mike's friend. Infact I and mike share no much personal relation at all.

We are professionals here, we must respect each others creation. If you got something unique, if your creation is genuine no one is gonna give you cold feedback.

 

Can't remember old design 100%, but I liked it better than new one. Not really a fan of color scheme and few other things, but cool thing to do from owner.

Like Swedal, Zorg was last thing on my mind when I saw this. Maybe they share same or similar structure, but I would never compare these two.

And no, I don't want to benefit from you by commenting in the tread, but if you want to hire me for redesign pm me - Joking, of course.

While there may some merrit to that statement it also smacks in the face of directories as a whole.

Wheather we like it or not we all in some way share a common link, in that we all need to provide a good service and image for the next directory owner ( and i do not include the QBC here ), the reasons for this is that a submitter to a directory does not list in one but hundreds of directories, so in that we are not all fighting over the one submission takes all thinking.

Our customer service and support that we supply helps all directory owners as it enables that customer to see and use a quality service to aid their business and or promotion / service, failure to provide support and act less than professional lets down the next person in line and unsermines the common grond and responsibility a directory owner has to others.

Further to this all studies show that when business are prepared to work together the outcome can often be and is an increased benifit to those parties involved.

This is displayed but perhaps not highlighted with the directory in question, where a generous affiliate commission is payed by the dirctory allowing other business to work with this directory and together share in mutal benifits.

 

While honesty is always appreciated, you might of over did it. Kidding You can click the affiliates link to get a idea of the old design as its last on the list to remodel.
