GoDaddy Backorder Question

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by pctec, Jun 9, 2008.

I had back ordered a domain through godaddy but the owner renewed it. I then canceled the back order and it said I was given credit for it. My question is can I use that $18.99 to buy new domains that I want or can I only use it for another backorder?

    Thanks :)

It is completley dependant on Godaddy. I would think if the money has been credited to your account you can use it for whatever on godaddy.

Send them a support ticket/email asking them.

You can use the money only for another backorder (within 1 year)

Yes, we can only use that $18.99 for another backorder.. btw, according to GoDaddy:

Should the backordered name go to auction at The Domain Name Aftermarket, your backorder cost is used to place the opening bid. If no one else places a bid on the name, the domain is awarded to you, subject to rights of the previous domain holder.

    cheers :)

I would think you would be able to, go daddy is one of the best domain registrars on the internet.

I really dislike this rule. I have a couple BackOrder credits that I've had for almost two years now and still have not caught any names. LOL Not a very good service. I just keep suffling the credits around and maybe one day I'll catch one. ha

You can only order an another backorder using that credit. You can not purchase other hosting products using that credit.

I use godaddy for both domains and hosting and I like the company, but backorder services are all a scam. The only way you will get any domain through a backorder is if it's so crappy that nobody wants it. Most people wind up renewing their domains, and if they don't, the big domain companies have high speed connections and custom software that hammers the registration servers from the second it becomes available. The only chance you have is to use a service like snapnames. If you show an interest in the expiring domain, they will grab it, then over a few days they will have an auction for it. They have the servers and software to compete with the big boys so they have a really good track record of grabbing expiring names. Backorders are crap, they almost never work.
