Hi Guys and Gals After relaunching my site I would also like to try to get ahead with SEO, I know, I know everyone wants something for nothing url is deep - divers dot com As you guys are the experts what would you say I concentrate on first I have a list of things to do; 1. optimize titles for each page and language. 2. 301 redirects from old .html pages (now .php) 3. meta tags (do I need them) some of my competitors are ranking high and they have them so for sure it wont hurt right? 4. add more content/copywrite to the blog? i have 20 keyword related 4-500 word articles to publish. (how do i then redirect from a search result from google to get the guest to my main index page?) 5. optimize alt and title tags for images? 6. link building, have done some but hard work 7. i own the .nl domain will i get penalized for duplicating my dutch content on this site and the main .com 8. fix the xhtml validation errors. Thanks if anyone cares to answer and help!
I would definitely do you redirect first and get you new pages indexed, plus you don't want to risk google finding duplicate content in the old version and the new version, then i would start with general seo, take it on page at a time. That way you may at least see a result for the pages that have been fully optimised for seo. Can't tell you about duplication problems with the english and dutch sites, maybe someone else here can. Build links every day even if it's just one a day, google likes natural linking patterns plus it's less boring to do them in small chunks. Hope this helps
thanks for the advice weddingandgems just have a problem accessing my cpanel for some reason otherwise that was first on my list!
Addressing Meta Tags yes they are still useful, in some cases very useful. Just make sure that you use the right ones.
thanks geeurbie i looked up all my competitors who are ranking high for my keywords so will try to take a good mix btw how many is considered stuffing?
You mentioned somethings that we teach at our seminars and that is to check out what your competition does, then do it better. Your welcome.
