The First Time You Drove

I am going for my license in a few weeks, and I am thinking back on all of the screw ups I made while driving. It's kind of funny now, and I can't believe all of the people I've pissed off.

Anybody have any comical driving stories from when you were first starting?

Not at the very first time actually. I already had driving license for one week when I hit a bus. Just a little scratch, but I was so shy coz I was with my new girlfriend. :)

About the first week I was driving on my own... I was driving on a main street in town, and I tried to go while the traffic light was yellow, and a car in front was pulling out and I slammed on the brakes and my car shifted and I kind of scraped a car... and it was my friends car

No funny driving stories first starting out. First major accident I got into I side swiped a cop in a city car. Was not a police car but some Geo Metro looking thing. He was too low to the ground I couldn't see him in the blind spot.

Frankly little low to the ground cars should be illegal. If they don't outlaw them then they should not get pissed when I run one over with my truck. LMAO.

    You sound optimistic.

I have my learners permit, and it's not funny but really frustrating. My mom is a very nervous person and dad doesn't have the time to let me drive, so I always am stuck with driving with mom who constantly yells "Get over!" "Slow down!" "WATCH THAT CAR!!" "DON'T HIT THE SQUIRREL!!!"

Somehow, through all that, I haven't hit anything yet...

This was the exact same case with my parents. I'm glad I don't need to go driving with them anymore.

Wierdo believe it or not your mom being that way is going to help you in so many ways as a driver. Especially if you get married to a nag. The thing is if you have not hit anything yet and your mom is like that you have pretty steady nerves and should be a good driver.

The steady nerves is from my dad. One time a car without brake lights stopped in front of us without warning, and he just calmly pulled off the road, missing it by probably an inch. When I grabbed the armrest he was like "What, no problem!"

The problem is that I am getting so I never want to drive, her nerves are so bad. Also, it's too bad her car is the only one I like to drive.

P.S. I am totally not kidding about the squirrel, it has happened.

You are lucky here it is deer. I have rock steady nerves. I have driving skills like a race driver and a lot of it is due to natural ability on my part. Then I drove tractor trailers and I drive in emergency situations as well as with storm intercept I drive in all kinds of rain and hail and what have you.

That squirrel was in town. Deer here are rampant. A lot of times, looking out the window at any time you can probably see at least three.

The first time is ok, but the couple of times after that I hit a lorry while reversing -_-;; then I scrap my door at my house's garage. Talk about beginner's luck (and not anymore after that...)

I feel your pain on the nervous mom. Mine used to hit the dash screaming stop when a car four car lengths ahead of me would tap the breaks. My dad was always the better driving teacher. He took me to a two lane road 20 minutes away from our house my first time driving. The road was full of semis and 18 wheelers making deliveries to the stores and I was in a stick shift. He just got out and told me to drive. Thankfully I didn't stall until I got into a parking lot :p

Four car lengths? My mom would be screaming at 40. And that's without them braking...

One day in Driver's Ed I had a couple 18-wheelers pass me. The instructor didn't as much as blink.
