I want to set up a new proxy site soon. I have some questions regarding that. Hope you guys can answer. 1) How does a proxy site die out on its own after some time? 2) How much time does it really take to die out ? 3) Is there any way one can extend the life of the proxy site? 4) Are the proxy sites used mostly for ublocking sites at institutions or workplaces? Do give some other general tips.. thanks.
1) How does a proxy site die out on its own after some time? A proxy site dies out due to not enough promotion and mainly because after a while it will be blocked from various different schools, work places colleges and universities. This obviously happens over time, however with filtering systems getting harder to break through i feel unless proxy sites develop further soon it will become faster anf faster. 2) How much time does it really take to die out ? I would say for a proxy site to die down to no traffic at all it would take around a year. I am not sure what you mean though "die out" do you mean from having any traffic at all, well this would depend on how the site is marketed, if it is not marketed at all it wont recieve much traffic anyways. If the site was to somehow get around everywhere then it would easily take over a year for traffic to die out and for it to be banned but more than likely this wont happen. 3) Is there any way one can extend the life of the proxy site? A lot of people feel that having no keywords relating to proxy sites, blocking e.t.c in the domain name or text throughout the site would help. However the negative side of this would be you can say bye bye to search engine traffic, because you wont get any. 4) Are the proxy sites used mostly for ublocking sites at institutions or workplaces? Proxy sites are mainly used for getting on to sites/ going around filters/bypassing filters to get on to generally social networking sites i.e. myspace, facebook. They are commonly used by pupils/students at colleges and schools. Also though, they are used commonly at work places and several other places. Thanks a lot for the answers. But dont the institutions use third party services to block out all proxies, social networks, etc. The third party service providers are too smart to detect a new proxy within days... so if they do it, then all the insitutions and workplaces using such third party services will not allow the new proxy on their network. ..
u know how does these 3rd party get the latest list of proxy??? they actually subscribe ot the paid list of latest fresh working proxies from the big proxy directories like proxy.org, freeproxylist.com etc... most of the new proxy are listed here as they bring a huge amount of traffic, but at the same time they can be easily blocked by paying a minimal monthly fee and getting the elite proxy list which updated atleast once a day.. I hope the answer is clear...
1.. depends on the initial promotion - it will die if your park the domain 2. how long is a piece of string 3. keep backlinking - it does not matter if the site itself gets blocked by a few schools and colleges - it never gets blocked globally 4. Not really - proxy sites are used mroe generally than that.
i have had a lot of clarifications.. thanks a lot. i have used and heard about vtunnel many times before. and i have used atunnel, b, c and more. i dont remember much. i used to do it when i didnt know anything abt publishing, hosting and ads.
I thought that all the big institutions and companies subscribe to third party services. So the life of proxies is mostly less than a month. i think i was wrong..
Not really, although they do visit such sites and add the new ones to the filter DB just to be sure. If you submit to proxy.org your proxy will be blocked very quickly by anyone who is proxy hunting for new proxies to block. Also the 3rd party filter companies have bots. When someones visits an uncategorized Domain (a new domain) it sends the bot to scan it, and the bots come back every few weeks or months and rescan it. Its almost all automated by pattern detection. Also those 3rd party filter services have sophisticated control panels with reports of visited sites, Lightspeedsytems is one, they have demo of there control panel here reports.lightspeedsystems.com
