Yahoo and BOTW say that payment only guarantees a review within x number of days and doesn't guarantee you a listing. They list minimum listing requirements but it appears that even meeting those conditions doesn't guarantee successful listings. Other than the minimum listing requirements, what's some of the reasons for not getting accepted? If I am submitting a legimate business site (offices in three countries, in business for 20+ years) will it be listed without any issues?
Sorry for the confusion, I have not tried to get the site listed yet - just not super keen on paying money and not getting a listing for it. Just wondering what the chances are of not getting listed.
I have not heard of a site that did not get listed in those directories after paying. I am sure it must happen, but suspect the chances are pretty slim if you meet the criteria for a listing.
Until we know your URL we can't help. Have they sent you a rejection email? Have you contacted both directories and asked.
Send me a link of the site your on about. If it would get accepted in ours I'd guarantee you should have no problems with the other two as our criteria is far stricter than both of them.
If the website is legitimate as you said (not an affiliated product or service) and your website is of professional quality you should not have any problems getting it listed. Just make sure all your links, and graphics are working etc. prior to submission.
Maybe he's got some with black *cough* seo going on that's why he doesn't want to post the link, hehe
Why are you trying to hide your site url? If you've a problem and discussing with friends, so you need to let us know your url.
There are 2 reasons for Reviewing websites: 1. To keep the directory targeted (A good reason) 2. To simply make money without giving the 'projected service', which is different to what is written in connection with the fee. (A bad reason) The first I believe is a totally legitiamte reason and mostly accepted by site owners. The second is one of theft and is thus illegal, as I firmly expect to get something in return for my money. Just because you hand over something, doesn't make it someone elses property... They have to give you something in return for payment before the money belongs to them. Reviewing, eg: looking at websites and making a decision to not include - is NOT giving somethng in exchange for monetary value. Let me explain, say I want a juicy red Apple, I legally have to pay someone an amount of money eg: the owner of the apple wants 20 pence. But if I take the apple and don't pay, then I just committed an act of theft and can be arrested and prosecuted. Operating review services for payment is clearly a risky proposition, and I stay well clear.
Eh? So someone pays for their site in some directory, but on payment they refuse to list it, and you condone that behaviour I'm shocked at such ignorance to what goes on regarding business practises. Facinating what so-called business people do to one another - unbelievable Jesus....
The thing is if you hadn't claimed to know it all I'd have put your response down to sheer ignorance but you claim to know it all so am surprised that you can't quite seem to grasp people are NOT PAYING for a link, they are paying for the possible inclusion via a REVIEW. This in business is called a service. Lesson over for today.
Submit to some other reputable directories, either free ones or cheaper paid ones with a refund policy. See what kind of acceptance rate you get. If your website is any good it should get listed in 100% of the paid directories and a high % of free ones, although how high is hard to put a finger on because a lot of free ones don't review very quickly and they don't always get back to you with a response. But certainly you should be getting more acceptance emails than rejections.
If you have a good site it will be listed. Common sense should tell you the kind of practices might prevent your site from being added.
