Yeah so like my post title says...I would like to know if while transferring a domain from my account(seller) in Godaddy to another user (buyer) whose registrar is also Godaddy...will there be any downtime? THIS IS WHAT GODADDY SAID WHILE RUNNING THE TRANSFER PROCESS: Completing an Account Change cancels all services associated with the selected domain(s), including: * Associated website or email service * Free Quick Blog * Free Hosting * Free WebSite Tonight® * Free Complete Email * Free 100-pack Email Forwarding * Starter/For Sale Web Page * Associated DNS zone files So associated website goes down? I'm asking this because I read that Domain transfers can take upto a week and a downtime of 1 week will kill the site traffic. Can anyone please help me out asap?! Thank you very much guys! Best Regards, Win Z
it shouldn't but if you are using godaddy's webhosting and/or other extra services it might (since its controlled by them). If your nameservers are set outside godaddy system a transfer *shouldnt* have any effect on the uptime. if it is within the godaddy system (hosting/email at godaddy) god knows what happens
Exactly what kohashi said. Transferring to another *name* WITHIN GoDaddy (another "account") has never taken me more than a couple minutes... but to another registrar is another story.
If you are planning to transfer, make sure to create the new hosting elsewhere and point your domains to its news nameservers shortly after begin the transfer process. Those services provided by GoDaddy will stop working, nameservers pointing to elsewhere will remain the same before and after transfer such domain.
Thanks a lot for your help guys. And don't worry...my nameservers are already outside godaddy...so it hasn't gone down yet. Any idea how long it takes for the whole transfer to take place though? - Win Z
varies... if its a good registrar account to account is instant. if its a really good registrar, registrar to registrar transfer is virtually instant as well.
