It's hard not to be happy when, for example as a webmaster, you can work at home, in your spare time, leting your computer make you money while you sleep, legally....and be able to live at DP any time of the day and night!!! :D:D:D:D

    Lucky Chap.

But yes if you earn well enogh in your enterprise you tend be lot much happier than in job. There is less of inhibition and you can work at your own pace.

Being your own boss gives you a greater satisfaction.

Other than the money thing, the main hassles I find are sorting tax (if you do it yourself), and the occassional nasty surprise, such as Getty Images sending a 2K invoice for the usage of a user's signature.

"longer hours", yes, but "less money"??? no way !

One of the biggest reasons I quit my employment was the poor salary.

Seriously, if you can't make more income when you're self-employed, you're in the wrong game.

    Oh I couldn't agree more dude. :D

After being laid off from a fast food restraunt called Chick-Fil-A, I found working online and being my own boss a lot less stressful and actually more fun! :)

I really hated dealing with people in fast food...they expected so much out of me when some of the stuff they expected was not in my control, and they would not realize it (such as how fast the food preparation is, etc).

I love being self-employed, but the only downset for me is sometimes I don't make enough money or get scammed out of a good amount in which I pretty much have to beg other fellers for work to get some money. :p There's also no set pay or wage, which can sometimes be annoying but in comparison to working for someone offline and working for yourself online, there is none: being your own boss rocks.

I enjoy it, and am in turn a lot happier about it myself. :D
I'd love to make big bucks $$$ doing nothing and letting some Google Ads run, but unfortunately I don't use Google Ads or Yahoo! Publisher Network (am not willing to give out social security number and such).

I could not agree more, though.

You could ask a friend/relative who doesn't care about giving out his SSN to open an account for you.
There are also certain dummy SSN's that are readily recognized by SSA as non-existing, that you could use. The theory is that as long as you are providing them without intent to defraud or anything like that, it's legal. No criminal intent=no crime. Don't have links handy though, would have to look it up. There are other ways, but this is the only one that is legal that I recall at the moment

When you started at Chick-Fil-A, they legally had to fill out an I-9 form for you.

The I-9 form is usually done with a drivers license and a social security card. It's a stupid form that was created to keep immigrants from gettings jobs and contributing to the economy.

Chick-Fil-A knows your SSN, that's not much different than Google knowing it.

Alternatively, you can incorporate as an S Corporation and apply for a Federal Tax ID (also called an Employer Identification Number or EIN). Then, you can use your EIN in place of your SSN.

Or, you could incorporate in a foreign country and tell Google you are a Belizian citizen...

I have been making a income from online activies since i was 17, i am now 24, i am much happier and i earn more than if i was working for a company as there aren't really any limits to a online business.

You can literally keep doing the same thing that helped make you $1 online to make a couple of thousand.

I finished university because it made my parents happy, but i haven't even looked for a job as i make more sitting on my comp for 2 or 3hrs a day than i would at any entry level job.

The only downside is that i don't get to meet as many new people, especially after graduating from college.

Except 1099 income is no fun come tax season. Better make sure you keep track of all deductions...
