Hey everyone, Took previous suggestions to hearts and did the re-vamp for my client FOC. What do you all think now? Harsh is required as well. Something else too, I want to add scroll over vocals on the links to the actual PDFs, do you think I am pushing the interactive too much? I'm still working on it, if you are reading in the next 60 minutes from post... Greenbelt
G'day ejudicator Nice Site. The extremely dark green used for the outside border, does tend to make the site look quite dated. Try a couple of other shades of green and see which ones work best. Something as simple as changing the background colour slightly can have a big impact. I cant quite work out the top of the page. I think you really need a menu bar across the top of the page, directly underneath the header. Most user are use to performing site navigation from either the top or the left hand side of the page, not at the bottom of the page. You can leave the links at the bottom of the page if you wish, but you really need a navigation panel towards the top. I think you may have too many images on the home page, and not enough content. The rotating photo in the middle is not bad, and the large image buttons are not bad either, but when you throw them all together, there are lots of images for hardly any content. Try to get more content on there, and consider downsizing some of the images, or working out another way to display them. Overall, not a bad site. Good luck with it. Cheers
Thanks man, took me a month of original development. The client only wants what I have on the homepage, I was originally thinking puzzle pieces for each of the pdfs, with a lot of explanation for each...but no go. Big G gave me a PR4 and the site is only 4 or 5 mths young, so I pop for a lot in SE's and I'm about to optimize for the donations part. I just want the surfers to see something they expect too and not something too over-interactive. Will be applying your advice, check back again...
It would be best to keep your site respectable and somewhat old fashioned, instead of the adding all modern bells and whistles.
I thought it was very easy to navigate, and laid out well. I just was not fond of the dark green on the sides.
