I have tried it. It is very useful and has brought quite a lot of traffic. It makes sense to design your site with lots of good graphics and flashing colours as a majority of social bookmarking users are teens.
I think we're talking of backlinks, yahoo group posting uses no follow attribute that's why it's useless as far as backlinks is concern.
Digg and Stumble gave me a lot of traffic.. i mean a lot! Social Bookmarking sites are good source of traffic but not really backlinks. it can give you backlinks yes, but not like other techniques.
oic seems like you are doing great with social bookmarking i tried and it gave me traffic too thanks for sharing

social bookmarking can help get your site indexed but the ranking you get won't hold without a solid backlink campaign after that. There are tons of programs to help automate that process like Bookmarking Demon, rss feed submitters, 30 minute backlinks is also a good program to look into.
I would caution people against using automated tools, they have certain flaws. 1 of the softwares you mentioned above hardly has any working "drivers", they post from the same IP, leave several other footprints etc. Manual is the best way to go.
Jim's right about this one.. anyone who says social bookmarking is a waste of time CLEARLY does not know what they are talking about or aren't getting any results because they aren't submitting quality content to the sites... Top 3 dofollow sites are Digg, Reddit, Propellor
yeah, defo. Its one of the main things i use. I have a facebook account i post links to my store in my profile, i stumble some high interest pages and used to delicious and digg but not using them so much lately.
According to an article I read a while back users are mostly male aged under 40. If this is your target demographic you are likely to get good results. Most of the sites I'm involved with are aimed at people likely to be 35 + so I've never bothered with them but that is the only reason.
