Basically what the title says, what's the best code to use for browser based games (aka, no downloading required). Such as Urban Dead, Duels, etc.

I keep hearing php with a mysql backend, that true? Is it the easiest and most stable?

    php/mysql backend
    flash/actionscript frontend

if you want a very visually advanced game, flashy/colorful/artistic, and has good 3d support and is good with heavy traffic

depends on the kind of game you want to make

Something simplistic as Urban Dead, for the most part. Something that can be quick to load. I've been reading up on Ruby On Rails (platform), would that be a good thing to use?

    RoR is a fad :|

this Urban Dead game seems to be mostly php/mysql and (from the looks of a screenshot) maybe some javascript

these 3 are fairly basic language and would not require much knowledge in them to make a game.

Ah, that's good to know before I really started reading more into RoR, if it is indeed pointless.

Sounds good to me, I'm a bit rusty with that but hopefully I still remember enough to complete a game. ;)

If you want to stand out do it in flash and jazz it up.

So keep th code clean in php but post back the vars through flash only.

It will give you quite a bit of flexibility in regard to content rich graphics.

I think I should not bite off more than I can chew, so probably a simplistic 2D game at first. I know how to use flash, but scripting in flash I'm pretty new to.

Is Gaia Online made with Flash/vars?
