If I made this... would you use it? [more info inside]

After going around and around on this, I'm going to risk it and ask you guys what you think about my idea, and if you'd use it.

If I made a store (a digital store) of web scripts where you could sell your own products, and give me a little commission - all of it automated - you get your payment right to your PayPal - I get my commission.

    Would you use it?

Hmm. If it actually got things sold and was popular. Yes, I would sign up in a heartbeat and start using it. A good idea since getting a product known and sold is a hard thing to do.

I definitely would assuming it has become a somewhat popular program by that point.

So it would allow us to upload scripts we've written, and whenever somebody buys one we've made we get direct payment to paypal, but you would keep a percentage or something?

    Yeah.

You can add any scripts, even if you didn't make them yourself (but only if you have the rights to sell it, and if it isn't available already).

Specifically, this is how it would work:

You create an account. Post your script, put up an image, and write the description and the details as well as a demo (hosted by you, I'd teach you how to do it for free), or it could be done for you for a small fee.

If someone buys it: your money goes to your paypal, my money goes to my paypal. I haven't decided what my commission would be, but it'd be something like 5% or 10%.

The problem is, that it can't get popular without content...

I would be willing to provide some VERY simple PHP scripts if you need some help getting it started.

Well, I meant PHP scripts to be submitted to the website. ;) For the content.

    JMR,
How are you planning to take the payment from the customer and have your commision sent to your paypal, and the person running it the rest?

I think it would be impossible to do this unless the customer pays twice for same product(10% commision to you & rest to the person who is in your programme) this can be offputting and dependant on weather the customer makes both payments.

The only possible resolution i can see for this is that all the money is transferred to one paypal and is split from there.

    Anyhow goodluck with this prospect.

yeah the payment would have to be sent to you and then you would have to send the payment to the script owner.

also if/when you set this up let me know as i will add a few scripts to it for you

Yeah, about that, I had contacted PayPal yesterday, and they just answered me telling me that they don't see a way for it to be done with PayPal's current options (well, the guy who e-mailed me was certainly not a developer), and if I managed to do it, that they would not support it.

Anyways, I would have the site generate a mass-pay file every week, import it to PayPal and make the payments every sunday or whatever.

So I've got the tech figured out, and the content (apparently)... Now I just have to figure out a way of marketing it. Anyone have any ideas?

I think there are already sites like this that are really popular. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't this just like

    http://www.hotscripts.com

they have free and paid scripts on that site

That may be true. But I find hotscripts a pain to navigate and sort through. The design sucks!
