Should I Spend $1000 For A Domain With My Specific Niche Name?

If you're going to be building a large website over a long period of time, find a "brandable" domain name - something that can be easily remembered. I doubt anyone searches for "rap collector" but it's not like "rap archives" is a hot search either. I agree with Pammer - try something like RapDaddy.com or similar - something memorable. Stick with a .com and avoid hyphens (the dash "-") and build a quality site...and over time the search engine rankings will come.

 

You're right, we have been banging our head against the wall because every domain we come up with has been taken. We're definitly looking for a brandable domain name that can be remembered easy and SEO friendly. Rapdaddy.com and Rapvault.com are great ideas and easy to remember I'll check to see if they're available. I should look in a thesaurus under database or archive to see what alternative words I can use...
