Just wonderd how many of you Have worked hard getting backlinks and still lost pr?

I worked very hard on getting backlinks to improve my pagerank.
My site had pr3 b4 the last update and droped to pr2.

I dont understand why this happens as i got more links and worked hard.
Does google penalise you for changing the whole content of your site?

    This is what i did.
I had a search engine submission website, and used good software to submit clients sites to thousands of engines,After about 6 months i thaught i would change as i wasent making any cash with it.By this time my site just got pr3.
I decided to change to a blog,This was just after the update to pr3.
So now ime working hard on backlinks and getting some articles writen and submited from users.
Now the new update i was expecting pr4 as i had some good backlinks from pr5 pr6 and other sites i allso submited to dirs etc. but instead got pr2

Did the change of content upset the google bot.

Who else has had there pr droped unexpectedly ime intrested to know your thaughts and your story:)

IMO, if you are getting and building links or buying links will may not help you,
    But won't ever hurt,

If your website lost good back links pointing to it. than i think it could be the one and only major factor for loosing pr.

Yes, that could happen sometimes when you over do the SEO thing.
I know it's quite annoying, but that's the life. In SEO you never know what could happen.

I agree with IEmailer, you might lost just a few very good links that's why your page rank dropped.

Better watch on how you build your links. Even a few but good backlinks plus quality contents could give you PR of 4/10.

So far, the only time my sites decreased in PR was when I removed their content due to spam (one site went from a PR3 to a PR2). But I never "overdid" the SEO.

If you start getting too many links then Google puts a nullifying effect on them and if the links remains you start getting the benefits.
