ebay- Reveal maximum bid of others?

Discussion in 'Payment Processing' started by therock003, Jun 4, 2008.

There are times where when you bid on ebay you're automatically outbid by others who have set a maximum bid,and then you can set your won maximum.

My question is this "Is there a way to know before bidding,if maximums exist, and the maximum that members have set"?

Or can you only find that out the hard way?

There is no way to find this out without bidding against them.

Jestep is correct, it is an incentive to the user to bid more and more thus adding bids to the auction etc.

Have you tried using sniping software? It can be a good way to get things a little cheaper and more reliably than bidding right away. http://www.auctionstealer.com/ offers 3 free snipes per month and there are about 50 other companies that offer similar services.

I was just about to make an inquiry about that as well.Have you had any experience with such software?I've onlu known baygenie auctionsnipe and i'm thinking of trying out.

    Any other software tried/worth mentioning?

BTW:What's the status on snipers? Are they legal as tools, are they allowed?

As far as I know, they're legal as long as they are properly using ebay's API. The popular commercial ones are most likely legal or ebay would have stopped them by now.

    I've also use Auction raptor - https://www.auctionraptor.com/
    Auction Sniper - http://www.auctionsniper.com/
    and Bidnapper - http://www.bidnapper.com/

All 3 are good. Auction raptor is one of the easiest to use. Auction stealer is nice because it offers a few free snipes.

I've never had any problem with any of the ones I've listed. I imagine that it's possible for there to be a network or other communication related error before a bid can be successfully placed, but I've never seen it happen. I guess, you could use two separate services at the same time if it was something that you had to be 100% sure your bid got in.

I use jbidwatcher (http://www.jbidwatcher.com/) - It's totally free and runs on your own computer, so you aren't giving your ebay login to anyone else like you do with services that run on websites.

    Enjoy!

Yeah maybe you're right,i just wanted to see how it would respod, and it seriously messaed it up.I'm disgusted by it.

Anyway good thing thing that this product is available every day,but bidding ends at 4 in the morning at my local time which makes it an issue.

I stayed late first time around to see how the snipiers will react, then yesterday messed with my bidding, when i could have won(taking into account that the winner hadnt set a maximum of over 50).

Maybe third days the charm.Well maybe not a charm for my insomnia but hopefully i will get this item.

Well i can cry all i want i guess,or i can find new means to makingthis happen.I discovered an article that lists 5 best snipers (authors choice) and it leasts prospector as first.

It has a lite version limiting 30 searches a day a 15 snipes a month,so i guess i may as well try this one today.
