Offline or online?

Hi, im 16 years old and i have basically left school now. I have 13 weeks until college. I feel i want to do something and not just play games all day!

I already work in a shop and get like $28/week. I have the opportunity to make this $60/week by doing more hours.

My question is would i be better off putting in more hours? Or quitting it completely and be a freelance content writer? I also do design but im not very good so i could practice doing that and soon be freelance designer?

Im currently on $7/hour which im not exactly happy with but its ok because im quite young.

What you think i should do? Would i be able to get at least $50/week with in mind i can have five (monday-friday) 9 hour days and whatever else i want to do on the weekend?

    Thanks, Ben.

Just get a website connected to your hobby eg.books or football.
Write some good content, do some seo, promote it at forums like this one.
Add AdSense......you will earn a bit in the beginning.......
Also use the revenue sharing thingy of DP......
The head to the services and freebies section of DP,
I am sure after some time you will start earning more than 50 bucks a week.

    Good Luck! :)
PM me if you need help on any topic.

How long will it take you to write an article? If you can write just 3 articles a day for 5 dollars each you can make more than what you make now and writing 3 articles is very easy.

I agree with the online suggestion. Less gas, less wasted time -- as long as you don't get sidetracked with the internet. Then you need to think how you'll be paid: paypal must link to bank account, and I'm not sure about checks in your name at your age. You might need to bring in a parent for that - but absolutely practice design if you like that and write in the meantime.

    Good Luck.
P.S. Disregard my 'peon' status. I'm a Viking.

Definately online. Much more fun, opportunities and freedom. The viking is right about the you're-too-young part, but bringing a parent should not be a problem i guess..

Thanks for all the replies people! You've inspired me to start freelancing seriously.

How long will the articles need to be for $5 each?

    Thanks.

When you say you earn 7$ an hour and you have the option to earn 60$ a week, that's working 9 hours a week, right? Why wouldn't you be able to combine both online and offline earnings?

Just consider, with that offline job you've got a bit of certainty. It'll keep coming in, you just have to work 9 hours a week for someone else. That's money you see coming in without fail.

Online income can be a bit different, there can be times that you won't make any money. If you keep your offline job you'll still have somewhat of an income. I'd suggest stopping the offline job when you're earning 60$ a week online. Or preferably 120$ a week.

    But still it's your choice.

Thanks for your advise due to my offline job. I was planning to stop offline job when i get around $70/week constantly.

The only dilemma i have now is if i should take on more hours...

Extra cash is extra cash. You still have loads of time left to pursue your online goals, or will you be working full time this summer vacation? (and even then you've got the weekends and evenings to work)
