How to get traffic to my forum?

Discussion in 'Forum Management' started by webmoney, May 18, 2008.

I am running forum for more than 1 year but my traffic is still nowhere. I pay per posts also and I see I have only members talking about GTP sites and not about affiliate programs topic as it should be.

Please check it and suggest. It looks like SEO or something else is wrong there.

You have a nice forum just lacking the activity. Why not run a monthly contest or give something away to get the inactive members back to the forum.

Pretend you are starting the forum over again from scratch and perhaps re-make stickies, rules and send out a mass email welcoming back all members to the new forum.

Maybe even create a new template and changes things up. Add some mods, or a arcade to the forum.

I'm little tired right now and nothing good is coming to mind.

    @snakeair
that is why I decided pay for some posts. Now I have many posts and forum is live but still I am not getting SE traffic and since site and forum is older than year I would expect more.

If I post somewhere that I pay for posts than I have only questions when do I get paid... I hate this since I want members to post not for money but make this payments only reward for them.

It should be OK. Can you tell what exactly is/was the problem?

    Easy -
    1) Link exchange
    2) Buy Banners/Links
    3) Increase your backlinks

Those 3 alone can help you :p also your niche must not be cramped

I see 22k posts..hardly a dead forums. I am not sure your assessment that "traffic is still nowhere" is correct.

I see a lot of pages indexed at Google too. PR is 3 which is respectable.

I can't decide if you are just spamming your link or are genuine.

So stop buying their posts. Personally any activity should be encouraged and nourished even if it wasn't the sites original intent. Go where the traffic takes you and don't fight it.

Well this is exactly what I mean... I have all these PROS but getting only 40 visitors to this forum per day where 20 would be SE and it is not last year growing at all.

Si I do not spam here... I need serious advice because something else might be wrong (SEO, DESIGN, SERVER,...).

I know many forum owners getting traffic from blogosfere. They
advertise forums on blogs by run ad campaign via linkfromblog.com.
They pay from 10 cents for blog post about their forums.

Make a list of forums that are related, then start participating on those forums. Make sure to have your link in your signature. Also, Bookmark all of the best posts of your forum. Its not the traffic you should worry about its getting people to sign up. Lots of forums have traffic but little users.

This sounds good... is there some automated SW that could do this? Or can I hire someone to do this job for me?

Just tried to look at your site, says its under maintenance.

As mickeyy says this is a very good way of getting your backlinks up, especially good if the forums you are posting on are relevant to your site.

Yes, I am changing to new system, design and so on... I think that previous version was too old and not SEO friendly so it did not get any SE visitors.

Seems like you are updating at the moment.

    Sounds like good advice.

Just have a re-design and think of something to get your inactive users back.

Another one who want to spam this forum, it is a damn new service, don't fall for this suggestion!

You will want to publish articles, make your forum SEO friendly and use signature with your link in it, that will help increase your traffic.
