hi all been working on my PC support blog and would like your thoughts / comments on how to improve it. http://lanarkshireitservices.co.uk/blog/ regards
It's bland and boring. The width of the site is too small and the size of the font is too big. I'd shop around for a new theme.
The text and content is really choppy looking. And I agree also that the theme is kind of boring, but you could always make that better adjusting colors and adding graphics. I also agree that you should increase the width of the columns, and I think that would make the content a little less choppy looking. I do think its a good start though!
I agree with the theme comment, find a new one or modify the current one. In particular you should have atleast one or two images above the fold to make it more appealing. Also, the color scheme isn't great. Contrasting colors would work a lot better. If you want to keep your current color scheme, atleast change it so that the main text is against a lighter color because that gray is too dark imo. Maybe switch the color of your content background with that of your right sidebar? Another thing I suggest is changing the permalink structure. Having it the default way isn't the best for SEO or very easy to remember. I suggest doing /%postname% or maybe a combo of the dates and postname. Having the postname in the url will help you rank for the post title's keywords.
hi all OK I have changed my theme to a better, more modern one. Just a couple of things: How do I center my Adsense code at the far right How do I sort the text at the left hand side. All comments / suggestions greatly appreciated. Cheers
The home page, and about us page are the same. The contact page should have an address, and business hours. I would definitely work on the home page, throwing in some selling points one why your company is great compared to the other local IT guy. You might want to clarify if it is a paid service for free. Here is a tip: You know the customer has just used a search engine looking for online computer help. They find your site, and have never heard of your service or seen your site before. Does your current home page, say ready to help, or do this to start getting help, or to start getting help click here, it's just 9.95 an hour. Start directing them, and stop letting them figure your site out. If your site confuses them, they will simply leave to be told what to do some where else.
