So I got this info about rel="me" tags used: But my question is does Google count it as a positive (seo enhancing) backlink toward your site, or a neutral link such as no follow? Thanks
Where did you get this information from? I've never heard of rel="me" before... I'm confused about what it's purpose is...
If you go to say your digg profile and highlight some links that you have put there to your sites and right click to get the source code for the selected text you will see your link with rel="me" I searched Google for what that is and found the information in the OP. Still getting conflicting information as to whether or not it is a plus for SEOing your site.
use rel=â€me†attribute. It tell the Search engines that the linked page belongs to me and is my profile. u getting more info www.notsorelevant.com/2007-08-29/plaxo-just-a-simple-tag/
It's worthless post. There are so many attributes like it's ,,, there is also rel="friend"... but these attributes really does not mean for se... and I agree with Ankit, that's post is Rubbish... and you are also making it more rubbish...
I would suggest you folks look into XFN (XHTML Friends Network) a bit. It is something google has been heavily promoting and developing. Last time I checked they hired on the creator of livejournal to head one of their big projects dealing with XFN (Social Graph API I think). To give you an idea of what XFN is. Its an ability to add a reference to what each of your links are giving some use to the ref tag. For example: On your blog you have links to your flckr, myspace, and 3 friends accounts. You would add specific reference to each link, so personal or photos, or friend. More info (watch the video for more info). Is this very helpful right now? No not really; most search engines don't care about ref attributes; and I don't think anyone can say if google is using ref attributes besides someone who works at google or has a contact could answer it correctly. Currently googles uses XFN in their Social Graph API, which means google does (and will) have interest in it. I know some sites do use these tags speficially only within their sites.
I wasn't considering adding it to any of my sites, I was considering if the links in my digg profile are good or nuetral towards SEOing my sites. I can't really make out what most of the posts have been saying due to lack of English. URBN I will look into that. Thanks
again, I am not publishing these kinds of links. I am considering their value as a webmaster inquiring about sites that link to MY sites from like social networking sites and profile pages.
Just as much garbage as this one: rel="nofollow" as far as I am concerned. If I am putting a link on my site it is there for a reason, and I give a rats but what a search engine thinks.
Totally right while ( rel="ANY THING" other than nofollow or nofollow external ) will pass the link value... but i never heard of it and am not sure if it's allowed and wont hurt your own site !!!
