Thanks Stoner, thought so, its a shame that it can't be for specific key phrases as that's when the presentation might benefit them. The problem is that most people wouldn't know this type of name or directory thus they wouldn't do a search for them that would produce the sitelinks.
When my site first gained sitelinks in WMT, 8 were generated and remained the same for a approx 2-3 months before they actually showed in web results and started changing. From my experience, you can 'block' a sitelink from showing, which you may deem useless to your search audience - it takes approx 2 weeks for a new sitelink to be generated, or if not, the sitelink you blocked will be dropped and 1 less sitelink will be displayed. The first couple of days after I got sitelinks it was only for 'www . domain . com' - now it shows for a variety of search terms, and I currently have 7 showing in the search and 8 in WMT so would expect my 8th to be displayed in searches within the next week or so Just thought I'd give you a bit of insight into my experience with sitelinks. Have fun
You can get sitelinks for a specific search term. Niche directories can get them for their major keywords. One of my sites has them for keywords where it ranks #1 for the home page.
That’s interesting; I have never seen them show up for anything but the title and some variations of the title.
This is so true... I hope nobody is searching the web trying to find directories that have site links. I could go on a rant, but I will just stfu. All the same, sitelinks are an accomplishment and congrats to those who just got them.
