Hi, I recently purchased WebAuctions.net from sedo, which I think was a good buy as all of the other similar names are taken or they want $10,000+ for them. I purchased the name so I can create a premium place to buy and sell websites, looking to mainly cater for the larger sites for sale, similar to sitepoint. Now the question I have is this... What System? 1. Similar to SitePoint? (vBulletin + Custom marketplace) 2. Similar to Ebay? (Auction Script) 3. MarketPlace... similar to sitepoint but on its own.. no vBulletin intergration. 4. Other? do you have any suggestions? Also my other question is what would you want in a website / services marketplace? Look forward to your responses.
I think the sitepoint system would work best for you. This is because since it works like a forum, anyone can ask any question easily. Also, you can build a forum around it increasing the value of your site. Also, if you use the sitepoint system, you make every buyer and seller personally accountable for their decisions: so if something goes wrong, you don't have to take any responsibility for it. If you go for that, you would have to install a feedback system like the iTraders here. If you ask me, I prefer buying and selling sites at sitepoint rather than doing it on ebay.
I have 1 more question to anyone vbulletin 3.6 or 3.7? I know that 3.7 is now in its gold / stable release but im unsure if i like the profiles? however this seems the obvious choice to go for... but unsure?
or custom script for auctions like eBay with everything built in (would cost a lot) or vB + forum as site point
