DP members, im curious do revenue sharing forums attract you in terms of how much your participate and whether or not you come back to the site. does revenue sharing make a huge difference or is it something that just sticks out and seems attractive?. I've seen a few boards market this when they are looking for members but I'm not sure if (from a users point of view) really becomes the deciding factor to participate or not, im sure its no the only factor but I'm wondering how much weight this holds.
If that's the only good thing about a forum then no but a forum with good posts AND revenue share can grow faster.
Yes, it certainly does! I've made a decent amount of money from it. If nothing else, it's a good source of supplemental income that you can use towards other things, like another website or advertising.
I think it can be an incentive to join but if the forum is not active or good then I don't think members will want to post that much.
Another thing you could do is just do revenue sharing for the really active members, Mods, or article writers (depending on the site). They get a better payout as core members, while they encourage others to take part. Couple all this with referral contests, special badges or other awards, and other incentives, and you could have a pretty successful site. Getting and keeping good core members seems to be the most difficult task.
As a "visitor," I wouldn't join a site just to earn a partial revenue share. My time is more important than the pay I would receive from shared revenue. Usually, the money isn't more than some extra change, unless you write a popular sticky on an active forum. It does seem to grab people's attention, though. I like the idea of sharing revenue with moderators and "really active" members. "Revenue sharing" may work even better if the revenue wasn't based off CPM or CPC ads. Maybe create an "Admin's Club" where select members get a portion of links and affiliate earnings as well. It all depends on how much you want to give away.
I think it is definitely and attractive feature. I enjoy looking in my Adsense account and seeing income from this site.
it depends in the people who you are looking for and who you are atracting..For exemple : tutorial forums, webmasters techniques forums,ect... i mean things that have a greate popularity..
Like someone said above if the revenue sharing is the only good thing then no, there are plenty of revenue sharing forums if you look around.
