Forget buying links in the search engines, it's too expensive. The major engines aren't targeted for the likes of webmasters on forums, their aimed at big national organisations with millions to blow on paid advertising eg: £300k a year on advertising etc. Unless you have 10 grand a month to blow on these guys like MSN, then forget it.

Oh and thinking that Yahoo are in business to make life easier for the free listing crew - forget that too, all they want is your money! The only reason free listings in search engines are made available to all is:

    1. It creates a massive backfill and potential client list

    2. Being included in a search engine with a big name, entices people to spend cash.

..... you will never get rich fighting for SE rank position nor will you get there by begging and pleading for free directory or other links. Yahoo like all search engines are in business to make money, and that's it.

Your best bet to make money and get things rolling is to become an affiliate, and then get on-target links to your site and hopefully make some cash like that. With the right type of website idea, you might make an income that you can live off - maybe.......

But forget about becoming a millionaire, that's for guys with real ideas and with cash to blow setting it all up. :)

    Good luck

Well, I think overall google is better than yahoo. But this assesment I believe applies on the general trend. In so far as our country is concerned, Yahoo is on top. But personally, I prefer google.

For every feature they have there are better options starting with their search engine which is not as good as Google.

Google, Yahoo and MSN account for the majority of web traffic and search engines queries people make everyday.

Webmasters try having their sites appearing high at all of the three engines mentioned.
