Do .info sites rank well in Google for keyword searches?

    Just curious...yes I'm being cheap I guess...but I am wondering if .info sites can still generate traffic for long tail keywords. Thanks everyone!

    In my experience, yes. They rank just as well as .com's, etc.

    Yes. A good example of that is a website that ranks 5th on "make money online" keyword.

    the domain extension has no bearing on how well you will rank in the search engines... quality content and SEO will get you to rank well...

    I know .WS domains that have number one spots in markets...

    My press release site varies from 8 to 10 in google depending on which way the wind is blowing. I have other .com and .net sites and do worse but in different markets.

    I don't have any hard proof that sites above mine are ranked better because they are a .com. They all have better inbound links and the ranking seems fair.

    ive always heard people dissing on the "cheaper" domain names, but from my experience its all in how you market it and the market itself.

    .com will always be the king though just for fact thats the most bought and popular/accepted/well known of course, i mean when someone tells you a name of a site to go look at whats the first extension you think of?

    Dot com names will always have a higher value because it's #1, however from experience and research, a .info domain will do just as well in the SERP's

    .com sites look more professional than .info or .ws...Alot of people will associate any non-.com as "Free Domains/Foreign Server Location" and thus, "Low Quality And/Or Scam Product"...But ive never heard anything about SE algorithms taking consideration of domain extensions.

    Like JayXtreme said "domain extension has no bearing on how well you will rank in the search engines... quality content and SEO will get you to rank well. A .info with great content vs a .com with poor content will rank higher every time.

    You know, I've always wondered about this. I have a lot of sites and all of the .com and .net extensions get ranked in a matter of days and stay in the top 10 for several months at least. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get a darn .info site to do the same. I do on and off page optimization the same as I always do, but still no luck. It could easily be the keywords I targeted, though.
