Is an "authority site" worth more?

Hows everybody doing...I have a question about the value of websites...When google considers your site an "authority site" is the value of it greater then if it wasnt an authority site?

In your personal opinion...Lets say a webmaster has a site which is an authority site, gets crawled all the time by numerous bots, but the site lacks somewhat in content and backlinks...Not that it lacks, but it could be 100 times better...Say given the stats of the site based on backlinks, pages, rss readers and etc etc its worth X amount of dollars....Could of the value actually be higher then what most sites like dnscoop list according to the sites stats? Mainly due to the fact its an authority site and placed in the right hands somebody could do some major damage with it and make a nice buck real quick?

Your opinions...Sorry if the questions seems confusing

    ^^^

Im sure youve noticed how major sites like Digg, YouTube and etc etc have a listing in Google where it shows a few deeplinks on the site under their main link..Where as other sites only have a listing to their main page only, plus whatever blacklinks they have on other site listed as the rest of the results...The sites with those deeplinks listed in a column under their listing are known as "authority sites"....Sites which are known for bringing original content to their niche...A site which google personal values as an "authority figure" for the niche of the site...Its usually a site which is crawled a lot, able to get good rankings and indexed withing minutes of making a post....A site which usually ALWAYS has spiders on it....

There are a lot of sites like this our there which sort of lack content...Not that they "lack" it, cause if they did they wouldnt be an authority site, but with that sort of status the site should be a lot bigger cause it could do a lot better due to its status....When you check the value of sites with those online tools they go according to backlinks and what not to value the site...However, a site could get a low value eventhough it sort of holds somewhat of a high value due to what could be done with it given the time in the right hands...

Thats why i was wondering if these sites would be valued more then what those tools actually say...cause if you put the time in you can do some damage and make a nice buck...

The links that you are refering to are 'site links' Site links are returned when the Google algorithm determines that the site is the most relevant for the search. It doesn't mean that the site is an authority site. Usually the sitelinks are returned for the site name or company name not for competitive keywords.

To my understanding sites which have a listing in google with those deeplinks are known as "authority sites".....If they arent known as authority sites what are they called? I have seen many discussions based on "authority sites" and majority of everything i read explains a listing like i do...They have also included pictures to show how an "authority site" is listed compared to a regular ol' site....

So if they arent know as authority sites im sort of interested to know what they are called...just so i can get the right info

The links are offically called 'sitelinks' by Google.

Google webmaster help center says "We only show sitelinks for results when we think they'll be useful to the user. ... At the moment, sitelinks are completely automated." This means that sitelinks are automatically generated for sites that are found to be the most useful for a given search query. Nowhere is the word "authority" used in describing sitelinks.

Most sitelinks are generated for the website or company name. I'm guessing that there terms are less competitive and the companies have a lot more backlinks in the anchor text than sites randomly mentioning the term. For example do a search on Google for "Joe's Crab Shack" and you will see sitelinks.

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=+joe's+crab+shack&btnG=Search

However for a search on "Crab restaurant" Joe's is not on the first page of Google's results. Joe's doesn't have 'authority'

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=1&ct=result&cd=1&q=Crab+restaurant&spell=1
