Hi guys i'm new here, and it seem like i'm gonna need your help on this one.

I signed up a paypal account back in late 2005 to early 2006.I made a couple of paypments and then never used it again till recently, when i added a new debit card, and proceeded to ebay to make a payment for a but it now item, when at some point i wasnt allowed to use the card for payment.

So i logged in to my payapl account and i selected the view limits option and after that the header of my account displayed the account is limited information.

Inb the details it stated as date this happened somewhere back on 2007 and in order to resolve the limitations i need to provide a utility bill, and change password and password question, and thing is i would like to do none of those.First thing is personal information i consider, and well second and third,it'll make me confused and maybe result into me forgetting the new password. So what shall i do?

I emailed them in the past week, saying that i'm annoyed for the whole incident as i wasnt able to complete the transaction, and i'm waiting for a response.

BTW my account may have been phised ,cause i remember having a lot of these phising mails on my emai account back then, but i have now removed the email adress i used to have and added some new ones.

I will give you two simple options to solve your problem.

    1. Give them the information they want and you can use paypal.

    2. Don't give them the information and you can't use paypal.

    The choice is yours.

    Well that solves absolutely nothing.

Well i mean is it legal for them to require a utility bill?

Other than that, people have also advised me to forget about all that and remove the ccount and start a new one.

Will the second choice be better, and are there really no other choices?

I know that giving them what they want will probably resolve the limitation man,i dont want any clarification about that, but i'm asking for your opinion, and for guidance by people that know the situation and have witnessed it first hand of how is it better to act.

There are sites out there dissing paypal, there's even a site called paypalusux that people cry about paypal and offer alternatives,i mean really are they up to something bad?

It is as per their TOS, either you provide or you do not use their service. There is nothing serious or difficult about providing utility bill unless you sign up with fake details.

    Yes.

If you make another one it will probably be limited again and you'll be in the same situation.

I gave you two options in my previous post.

That sounds like a place where you would belong, go have a cry there. Any site that is as big as paypal is not going to attract 100% satisfaction from it's users.

You have to do what PayPal requests of you, there is no way out of it I'm afraid.

Ok i did all of it.I enclosed my latest adsl bill though.Water, electricity and phone details where on my mother's name.

Something strange though. When uploading the file, they had a 4,95mb limit and my picture was like 1mb and it gave an error of large file!Anyway i resized picture to 60% resolution and i uploaded it.Password is resolved but proof of address status is in progress.

I hope it wont take long cause i really need some stuff delivered before i leave for summer vacations.

Anyway thank you for your interest and participation friends. Will keep you informed of what happens next.

EDIT:Seem that after i posted here i got an email saying my account is restored. That's great,I am off to make some purchases.

BTW Did they really review it personally? In a such a short while and on a Sunday noon?

it did,and its nice to know that they work non-stop.I guess they really needed some identification and maybe there wasn't anything dark regarding the request from me submitting papers. So it all went well.

Better go for documentation and call the paypal staff about the issue as they don't respond on email quickly.Send them what they have asked and if your account is legal then you won't have any problem .

If you will make another personal paypal account with the same user information then it can create problem for you , try to sign up for business account if you was operation a personal account previously &.there won't be any problem forsure.

Never never never do that. This is the worse advice that can be given.
