How stressful is CB?

    Short intro:

I am 26 and looking to get back into making money online. I used to make money selling ads on a legit website and then I gravitated to blackhat SEO with adsense. I was never a big earner, but summer of 2006 I was making over $2000 a month on adsense. I got sick of blackhat seo though as it got harder and harder and it gets stressful. You are ALWAYS fighting to stay ahead in blackhat and you have to keep on working cause your sites get deleted from the search engines quickly. I started to wonder what the point was so I stopped.

Now I am back and want to make money internet marketing again with something more stable. Would you say Clickbank is stable? The main question is are you still able to make money through clickbank off sites you have had up for over a year? I just don't want the stress, guys...maybe some former blackhats can sympathize. Also, I know blackhats used to be looked down upon so please, I ask you not to be harsh if you disagree with my past tactics.

Hmm...Maybe if you spend a ton on CPC advertising on the worng product with the wrong keywords.

Otherwise, I don't see how it would be stressful. Especially if you use bum/article marketing...then there is NO COST for you...which usually makes it pretty easy on the stress part. :)

    Uhh... what?

Clickbank is an affiliate network. What determines if your income is stable or not is your marketing. If you've got a solid business and a solid way of promotion then that equals a solid income.

As I said it's just an affiliate network, a directory of aff programs. Any affiliate network will do, it's your efforts that matter. I think it's funny how people look at CB as "a way to make money".

It's not. On CB you can find things that you want to sell as an affiliate, but how you sell it is up to you. It's how you sell it that is "a way to make money".

To answer your question, Yes, affiliate marketing can provide a solid income if you do it right. Especially if you promote offers with recurring billing...

I think it can be pretty darn stressful to tell you the truth. I don't think most people are cut out for affiliate marketing, too many ups and downs. Too many times when you don't see any results. It takes a special type of weirdo to rock it in internet marketing.

I agree. You can't freak out because one day you make 230 and the next you make 17. I admin sometimes I used to freak out if there was a significant lull because it's my only source of income; however as my income grew those lulls weren't quite so low anymore.

You tell any person that you never want to get a job because you could make money while you sleep and they'll think you're a definite weirdo. I think it takes a person who can look at the 30 day averages and not care about one or two days to be successful. There's many more things you need, but this is getting pretty long.

Here are some things i discovered:

In the beginning - you always make sales when you least expect it
SeO Wise - If You Submit and Forget - You'll be successful
Imitation - If you imitate those who are already seeing success; you'll have more confidence in your business.

Yes! You can make money with one-year-old (or older) affiliate links.
But IMHO, you have less chance to make an honest buck with older
marketing/money related products since many "addicted buyers" prefer
to buy the latest secret enclosed in up-to-date products.

On the other hand, dog training guides (just to name a good example) are timeless.

This is a great thread - lemoarian I couldn't agree with you more. CB is not to blame - they are only a gateway to offers, just like the rest of them. The networks do not dictate your success - ever - none of them - only YOU dictate your success.

I don't think it takes a weirdo - I DO think it takes someone that CAN in fact look outside the box, outside the normal teachings of loving your servitude (the system), and outside the regular role you are conditioned to think you need to fill in this world. Perhaps eccentric, indigo, extraordinary - and to be honest - those are the people that make it the farthest in my observations.

It can definitely be stressful just like ANY job out there - if you can forget about the fear, and minimize your cost of life (move back home with mommy - nothing wrong with it - give yourself 1year to 'rock it' - and do everything in your power for that year - you WILL have success or at least experience).

To be successful as an internet marketer - you need to be successful as a 'marketer' first - of any kind - offline/sales/phone upsells/etc. You need to understand the importance of messaging and creating actions in a marketplace to monetize on reaction. You need to think different or 'weird', and come up with strategies that help your bottom line from more than one angle.

You need to difersify BOTH - your promotional tactics (use 3-5 a day at least - do not rely on ezine or youtube or adwords or or or alone), your income streams - if you can overlap streams that are profitable you will soon learn that having a portfolio of conversions every day - even with fluctuation - should be more than enough for you to live a comfortable and somewhat automated life, while you keep duplicating your 'marketing' prowess and more campaigns to your portfolio.

It takes drive, determination, and FAILURES. I have learned to consider my failures a blessing in disguise (ok - i now know that I won't do 'that' again...). When you get bummed out, down on yourself, want to give up - you get really unsure of yourself and start questioning 'all of this'. My only advice would be to FULLY STOP your current tactics, STOP coming to this board - chances are you are now conditioned to 'do things' a certain way because you see others doing them that way - and it's hard for you to get your creative cap on and do things differently. FORCE yourself to try 5-10 BRAND new tactics you've never tried yet. Force yourself to think different and do NOT use ezine or adwords or your traditional methods. Try offline, try flyers under car windows with your .com on them pointing to your aff program, try getting a radio ad plugging your domain, little bold newspaper ads, - this one I like to preach - get a t-shirt with your .com on it - get a big breasted women to wear it - get 5 of them... At the end of the day - get away from your conditioned mindset and press the reset button to try new and unproven methods, you'd be surprised how far you'll go.

My .02 - bit of a rant but hopefully it helps you a little - it's ok to feel down or unsure - this IS a rollercoaster and sometimes we all go through that fall before it levels out after spinning you upside down a few times and jolting the butterflies in your stomach - then calmly smooths out and climbs again before the next fall... Stability in this sector is insanely hard -- and that's the same deregulation you should thrive on - I've seen people go from making 2-5 sales a day to zero, then to 20 a day consistently with a few small curves in their way of doing things. It's a beautiful deregulation to have at your side - take advantage of it - If I could sum up 90% of everyones problems on this forum that are not earning yet - it's 'learn marketing' - not the newest $7 report - but a REAL fundamentals to marketing course that teaches you overall marketing/psychology/influence/demand/messaging/branding/communication/copywriting/etc. - THEN learn some online marketing or re-incorporate your new methods - and you shall be MUCH better off.
