do .com domains rank better in google then co.uk or is it on how good your site is I would like to know so I can get the best ranking domains.
Domain's don't rank according to their TLD, with the exception of localised sites, like google.co.uk where .co.uk domains may rank better.
Its more likely that where your site is hosted ie. in the UK or outside - will have more of an affect on ranking than the domain. Google looks at the ip address and uses this to help decide how to build the serps for its regional results. Therefore if your site is hosted in the UK and the users restricts the search to uk only sites, your site has a better chance to higher serps placement.
I thought that, but my site is hosted in the US, and yet I still rank much better for UK searches o.o
in Google webmaster tools > Set geographic target > my .org.uk site is set to target UK with no way to edit it. Our serps dropped drastically outside the UK about 3 weeks ago. There is no way to edit the information either it just says, their help page gives, http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=63003&ctx=sibling It was not doing that a month ago when i checked, but does now. You thus might want to rethink using a .uk if you want to target outside the UK.
