I need a header-logo for a site called 'VIDEO TALK TIME' that is about video chatrooms, video conferencing and video phone calls, video communities etc. The competition is open for 24 hours from this post. The design, size and colors etc are entirely up to you - so long as you don't rip it off from somewhere else there are no real restrictions as I haven't even started the site yet. Post your entries below and I will give feedback for every entry. $30 will be sent to the winner by Paypal approx 2 hours after the competition closes tomorrow, in return I will need all the files used to make your header.
It's a nice start. I think the text is too simplistic and a bit old fashioned. Also I'm not sure I want a picture of a real person on there, especially not typical white 20-30 something office worker type on his own that will kind of visually exclude other users.
First off, can people stop PMing me their entries, for the following reasons: 1. I want them posted publicly so if there are any scammers entering there's a few more eyes to catch them out. 2. I can hardly declare that I had a winner via PM, it wouldn't really be fair. 3. Without seeing the feedback for the entries no one has a fair go of seeing where my thoughts are headed and I just end up with a bunch of random images in my inbox. Anyways, bitwer - the video element seems entirely lost in yours, and the phone looks like someone dropped it and ran away. Valid, the webcam bit seems okay, but it looks a little lonely like bitwer's phone.
Yeah I've gone for a clean web 2.0 feel. I think that if it were any less 'lonely' it would be cramped. What suggestions did you have in mind?
Maybe incorporate the webcam into the text somehow, make it look more together and interesting - draw some legs on, a happy face, waving to another webcam across the way. I don't know, it's why I'm posting the little competition on here. P.S. I'm going to bed now, it's 3 AM, and I'll probably have nightmares about webcams running around with little legs on them.
dimitri123, I like that idea, I don't like the way it's cut off top and bottom though. If you can make it so it's not cut off (the webcam) and get rid of the legs it will be nicer - I do like the camera illustration otherwise though, and I like that, without the legs, it could easily be a close-up of a built-in phone or laptop camera too, which is more likely the way things are going to go in the future rather than these old fashioned desktop and leg mounted type cameras. Sparsh007, the words are quite nice, I don't think the webcams blend in very well though, they look too tacked on, and out-dated (see dimitri123's feedback). joshuawest, that's nice and simple - it would be better if you made the camera just the circular part without the foot underneath, and maybe a little more going on within, or around, the lettering. bitwer, the lettering part ain't so bad but I don't think the phone illustration part portrays the video communication idea so well. Valid, I don't like the letting or the background. The webcam's okay but it does look a bit out of date. Perhaps if it was pointing at the viewer and just had the actual lens part without the tennis ball outer. My top 3 so far to give you an idea, though they all aren't quite right, are: 1. dimitri123 2. bitwer 3. joshuawest
My entry: I can make it a banner when the site is up so that I can see which design would fit the site.
